The historic site of the German Football Museum will host the Virtual Bundesliga Playoffs this weekend. The current elite of the German FIFA scene will fight their way to the Grand Finals of the competition between manifestations of the most memorable moments of the great sport.
In a very close and lengthy internal tournament to determine our participants,
Dylan 'DullenMIKE' Neuhausen and
Timo 'Praii' Gruneisen prevailed against their teammates
Mirza 'Mirza' Jahic and
Niklas “Bomb” Floeck and will represent our partner 1. FC Koeln. Praii will perform on the PlayStation 4 on the first day, while DullenMIKE will compete on the XBox One on Sunday.
Just like last year, there are some restrictions for the competition. All squads must consist out of first or second German Bundesliga teams and you can only use three players of a single club.
In total 128 participants will battle for just twelve Grand Finals seats. 108 competitors have entered the Playoffs via the Open Qualifiers, while twenty players are eligible thanks to finishing in the top sixteen of the Club Championship. Our players have qualified for the Playoffs thanks to finishing as the tenth team in the Club Championship. Since our placement in the top sixteen was secured early, they could prepare themselves thoroughly for the competition and are highly motivated to take the next step by advancing to the Grand Finals.
The top six of the Virtual Bundesliga Club Championship are already qualified for the final stage of the competition, which is scheduled for May, so they also take up twelve spots.
The participating field of the Playoffs is split in half so we have 64 competitors on each console. For each console there are going to be sixteen groups that will consist out of four players each. Eight participants are going to come out of the semi-finals victoriously and will directly qualify for the Grand Finals, while the losers of the semi finals will have to face each other for the final four spots in deciders.
Down below you can find the info about the groups and results of our players.
