Last night saw the first round of the CDiscount Cup, hosted by Millenium.
In a twist of fate it was to be
SK Gaming vs
Moscow Five in the first round, a repeat of the IEM Kiev semi-final which M5 won 2-0.
With many doubts surrounding SK going into the match it was important for SK to perform.
In Kiev, M5 had run with an aggressive counter jungle strategy, in order to do this they had utilised Shyvana and Lee Sin as their junglers. Perhaps a mistake of SK's was not to ban them out last time, this time however SK ensured M5 didn't get as easy a ride.
Bans for the first match were Karthus, Shyvana and Ryze from SK with M5's bans targeted at
Carlos 'ocelote' Rodríguez Santiago as usual. Although M5 did get Lee Sin they didn't get their frequently picked Gangplank which went to
Kevin 'kev1n' Rubiszewski.
The first game went strongly for SK with Ocelote putting in a strong performance on the rarely played Twisted Fate.
The second match saw SK ban Shyvana and Gangplank not wanting M5 to get their usual picks. SK also first picked Lee Sin.
Kevin was to put in a very strong performance on another unusual pick at High ELO, Volibear. Kevin started the game with a bang for SK with him flashing onto
Eugene 'Darien' Mazaev.
SK took the second game although they did let M5 catch back up after SK took an early lead.
After IEM Kiev many had M5 down to easily beat SK with 91% of people voting M5 would win the match in a poll.
SK once again showed why they have been at the top of the LoL scene for so long with their ability to overcome disappointments.
