The first Extreme masters event came to an end and saw
ESC Gaming managing to clinch to the top beating the Slovakian Damage Gamers Belgrade in two straight maps. Even though as we knew it was a side tournament on the IEM schedule, it brought us a lot of action and emotions, that give us the first impressions of what we will see in the international battleground this year.
As it was expected, the Golden Five and the Slovaks obtained their passports to the grand final knocking out the two other local teams which started the event in a sort of attempt to reach the elite of the polish scene. Going into the opening match, ESC surpassed their fellow countrymen of MaxFloPlay after two straight maps, and only losing a total of 13 rounds. In the other hand, the winner of the european qualifier won a battle that had an unexpected start as ALSEN easily came victorious in the first map, making the match look like the first possible surprise of the tournament. But all changed from the start of de_nuke_ve as myDGB showed steady performance in the important rounds fact that allowed them to tie the maps score 1-1. And finally, at the third and decider map, we saw a even more improved version of the Slovak squadron, allowing their rivals to win only three rounds on de_train_se.
The grand final ran as it was expected, with ESC taking advantage from the beginning. The poles did not waste time and took the first map after a very entertaining interchange of rounds that in the end showed a 16-9 score for the maximum favourites. Later, the slovak quintet managed to increase their in-game strength allowing them to get 11 rounds, but once again it was not enough to stop ESC's straight way to the champion title, sealing the victory with a 16-11 overall score in de_train_se.
