WinFakt Fi’s dominance has finally come to a halt thanks to Fnatic . The Finnish team has had a particularly great performance up to now, after having overcome the main favourites to win in the form of SK Gaming and Natus Vincere .
First map of the upper-bracket final was de_nuke, seeing fnatic starting CT side and taking the opening pistol albeit with WinFakt getting the bomb plant. WinFakt swiftly retaliated to take the next three rounds until the Swedes put another round on the scoreboard. The next four rounds went in favour of the Finns until fnatic revenged with aggressive pushes to accumulate five rounds consecutively. Final round of the first half saw Gux take down four of WinFakt while they were low on weapons to give his team the first half lead 8-7.
Second half pistol saw fnatic quickly make their way down to the lower bomb site to get the plant with WinFakt striking back faultlessly to defuse the bomb and take the pistol, evening the score at 8-8. The next five rounds went in fnatic’s favour after they purchased AK’s and deagles in the second round to force the Finns on eco which allowed fnatic to gain their much needed momentum. Just when it appeared that WinFakt’s dreams were fading, they managed to stop fnatic in their stride to take their second round taking the overall score line at 13-9 in fnatics favour. This was in vain however, as fnatic were quick to get back into the moment by planting the bomb with WinFakt finding it too difficult to retake with an AWP in their hands. Match point hastily appeared for fnatic as they kept up their dominant play and regularly achieving the bomb plant leaving the Finns in tricky situations. It didn’t take long for the black and orange jerseys to once again storm into the upper bomb site and eliminate all their opponents to take the first map 16-10.
Map number two was de_train with fnatic starting on the harder terrorist side. Pistol round saw the Swedish side gain easy entry into inner site to take the pistol and the opening six rounds, leaving WinFakt looking increasingly troubled. Seventh round saw WinFakt take their first round after bright play from H^N, and although the eighth round looked to be in their favour also the tables quickly turned with fnatic retaliating strong forcing WinFakt toward another eco to bring the score to 8-1. WinFakt managed to take two more rounds to end the first half 12-3 in favour of fnatic.
The final pistol round saw WinFakt get the bomb down but fnatic carried on their momentous play from first half to retake quickly to take the first round. The next round saw WinFakt force buy deagles to try and stay in the game, but fnatic weren’t allowing their victory to be ripped from them as they took the next two rounds. Final round saw Friis and Karrigan open the round with their faultless AWP playing to give them the upper final victory, 16-3.
With the Upper Final victory, Fnatic will need just one map to win Copenhagen Games in the Grand Final in comparison to the team who comes from the lower bracket who will need to take two maps. The Grand Final is scheduled to start at 21:30CET.
