It has been a very rough and turbulent year in terms of lineup changes for SK Gaming . The first couple of events in 2010, SK Gaming started off with the core lineup consisting of Dennis 'walle' Wallenberg, Robert 'RobbaN' Dahlström, Jimmy 'allen' Allen and two young additions, namely Johan 'face' Klasson and Frej 'kHRYSTAL' Sjöström. After noticing that the chemistry of the lineup didn't work too well, kHRYSTAL was substituted with Rasmus 'GuX' Ståhl. With Rasmus, SK Gaming enjoyed several successful months, managing 2nd place at one of the toughest ESWC tournaments ever, achieving gold at the second IOL Finals at Dreamhack Summer, but also coming second at the Arbalet Best of Four invitational. The team's success soon came to an end after GuX decided to return back to where he came from: Fnatic . The period afterwards seemed a little confusing for everyone. Andreas 'moddii' Fridh joined forces with SK Gaming and helped the team to win gold at the Samsung Euro Championship in September this year and also silver at the World Esports Masters in November.
Looking back at the past, SK Gaming's Counter-Strike 1.6 team has been ailing for quite some time now. We have seen outstanding yet also disappointing events. One solution for this is to bring stability into the team but also consistency in winning medals. We decided to make some major changes in the roster. Right before Dreamhack Winter this year we saw signs for fnatic to split up and we are happy that as of today the talks that started ended up with two of our most fearsome opponents Patrik 'f0rest' Lindberg and Christopher 'GeT_RiGhT' Alesund changing sides to play for SK Gaming in 2011. GeT_RiGhT, a former player of SK Gaming, will return home so to speak.
On top of that we can welcome one of the world's best Counter-Strike 1.6 players Patrik Lindberg, also known as f0rest. Robert 'RobbaN' Dahlström, Jimmy 'allen' Allen and Johan 'face' Klasson, a magic threesome, will be completing this fresh lineup. At this point we want to thank Dennis 'walle' Wallenberg to a great extent. All the years with you in the team and all of the events, matches and achievements we fought together won't be forgotten. Also we would like to thank Andreas 'moddii' Fridh and Marcus 'Delpan' Larsson for helping SK Gaming over the last couple of months. Big shoutouts to you two, we appreciate your efforts in 2010 and we are looking forward to meeting you in the new year.
This is what team captain RobbaN, team coach BUDAK and the two new additions f0rest and GeT_RiGhT had to stay about the changes:
"Alright so here we are after hours of meetings and phone calls. I will reunion with two old teammates, f0rest from the time in embrace and GeT_RiGhT from the time in SK Gaming. In my opinion the two best CS players out there, will join up together with face, allen and myself. I'm really sad that walle will quit playing, we have been friends for a very long time and played together almost since 2006. A person and a friend I will miss a lot to have in my team. But everything comes to an end. Our former team that never really had a proper lineup, we played with moddii, who on paper just played as a stand-in, he did a huge job the time he was playing for us, and I know many of you out there wanted to see him in the lineup of SK in 2011, too. Hopefully we will see him continue somewhere else. Now we will start preparing for European finals, which will be held in Kiev middle of January. It's time to start the tactic machinery and practice, practice, practice." (RobbaN)
"Ever since the split up of Begrip I wanted to play with RobbaN again. As fnatic has now split up and SK Gaming is restructuring their Counter-Strike team this gives me the perfect opportunity to do so. Robert is a great in game leader and a smart player, there aren't many of them out there. Joining up with SK Gaming will also give me a totally different view on the game. Face and allen are two fragging experts, I always had my problems playing against them in matches, and now playing with them is outstanding. I have now been playing for 5 (!!) years in fnatic and I want to thank the organisation and the players for the great times I had there." (f0rest)
"What a day for me. When I woke up this morning I wouldn't have thought that I return back to SK Gaming today. But as weird as it is this is just awesome. I always loved to play with RobbaN because he is an outstanding player and in-game leader. To be able to continue at a point where I once stopped at SK Gaming makes me eager to win titles and help the team get its form back. Also to be able to continue with f0rest, is also something that makes me more than happy. Fragging machines allen and face will make this new lineup exquisite and hard to stop. It's a new challenge and I am looking forward to it. I want to thank fnatic for everything they gave me during my stay there. The time I played for you was something special which I will never forget. Time to rock now guys!" (GeT_RiGhT)
"I have been trying to build a strong team for my organisation SK Gaming for years now. Finally I think I found the proper remedy for it. At one point I was losing hope but with this opportunity to get two of the best counter-strike players in the world? All of the lineup changes over the past made me sea sick. It was like a bad dream which was cursed on the organisation SK Gaming. I can't even count how many lineup changes we had over the past, too many, that is for sure. This team now is something special, you can really look forward to some superb action in 2011. I want to thank walle for all of his efforts he stuck into his team, for all of the tournaments he won with SK Gaming and also for you being a CS player. Your history in the scene of CS contributed to that what the game is today." (BUDAK)
Without further ado, the new SK Gaming lineup is:
Robert 'RobbaN' Dahlström
Jimmy 'allen' Allen
Johan 'face' Klasson
Patrik 'f0rest' Lindberg
Christopher 'GeT_RiGhT' Alesund
