Fnatic 16:11 mTw (tuscan 4:11 12:0)
mTw.dk came fast out of the gates winning the pistol round as terrorists and then charging up to 5:0, with trace winning a 1v2 with two nice headshots onto dsn and GuX in the 4th round. On the 6th fnatic got their first round win as 2v2 dsn came up behind the mTw.dk players from the kitty/ramp area and sprayed them down via their back hitboxes. The next two rounds saw mTw.dk taking the round wins and fnatic players saving making the scoreline 7:1 for the Danes. fnatic had two players with USP to go along with three saved colts in the 9th round but they managed to work some magic and take the round anyway with f0rest putting three nice headshots onto mTw.dk players.
The next two rounds were traded making it 8:3 mTw.dk but then the Danes took two in a row to get up tp 10:3. Both times getting the bomb down with numbers and fnatic saving once more. fnatic took the 14th round thanks to cArn winning from a 2v3 situation where he had a deagle but killed one then picked up a colt and killed the other two. A 3v3 on the last round of the half saw minet kill two to get the round to a 1v1 and then finish the job with his third making it 11:4 mTw.dk.
The Danes may have been riding high being up like that on fnatic in the first map but the school bell rang and the legendary fnatic showed up for school with their teachers' caps on for a little lesson in offensive tuscan. The basic plan of attack saw fnatic either pushing the middle strong or holding the second storage area and making spam/nades from mTw.dk ineffective unless they fully pushed. fnatic ran off 12 rounds straight to win the game from a stunned mTw.dk, none of whom managed to get over 5 kills in the half. There was even the embrassment of dsn buying an autosniper, presumably by accident, but then keeping it and getting two two kill rounds with it.
Class was dismissed and fnatic moved onto dust2 looking hungry to finish the Danes' dreams then and there.
Fnatic 13:16 mTw (dust2 8:7 5:9)
fnatic took the opening round thanks to two GeT_RiGhT kills at catwalk but mTw.dk managed a creative deagle eco where they walked catwalk and got the bomb down 4v3. That turned into a 3v1 and mTw.dk took the round. Again in the next round they made it to a 4v3 and took the lead in the match 2:1 as fnatic had half bought. fnatic won back the 4th thanks to a GeT_RiGhT and GuX 2v1 win but the next two went to the Danes making it 4:2. fnatic took two of their own thanks to a 7th round with dsn and GuX killing two each and a deagle eco from mTw.dk on the 8th. The 9th round went to mTw.dk after a 3v3 turned into a 1v3 for trace, courtesy of GuX, which looked bad until the young gun showed his mettle and took the round.
fnatic took the lead and then ran up what looked to be the beginning of their push to win as they tore off 4 rounds to go up 8:5, but mTw.dk showed some inner fortitude as they won the last two with cArn losing a 1v2 in the 14th and then anizz's three headshots powering mTw.dk to the last. 8:7 fnatic and we headed to mTw.dk's CT side with fnatic eight from the next round.
mTw.dk's USP superstars zonic and trace stepped up with two kills each but in the third fnatic struck back as they managed to take B with 4v2 when the bomb went down. The next three went fnatic's way as the 5th round saw GeT_RiGhT won a 2v1 he turned into a 1v1 against trace and mTw.dk eco'd the 6th. mTw.dk brought the map level with a three round run as they won the 7th off the back of three kills from ave and two from minet. Then in the 8th it was two kills a piece from zonic and ave leading the way. They were now at 12:12 knowing they needed this map to keep their hopes of an upset alive.
fnatic took the 10th as a 2v2 with the bomb down in B turned into a 1v2 for cArn which when it became a 1v1 had anizz spend too much time trying to get cArn that he failed to kill him or defuse. mTw.dk then locked down and dug down deep as they pulled out four straight to take the map and a series win from the Swede's, at least at this time. The 11th had three nice AWP kills from tace and he was the man of the hour again in the 13th, map point, as he shot cArn to 6hp and then when the fnatic captain jumped into the pit, having planted in A, the young Dane headshot him and defused to win the map.
Fnatic 14:16 mTw (inferno 8:7 6:9)
When it's winning time and their backs are against the wall is when fnatic usually come alive and do what they need to, as the tuscan game showed. Now was no different it seemed as fnatic took the pistol and then the next four as CT. Two kills from minet helped mTw.dk claw one back but the momentum stayed with fnatic who took the next after a failed 2v3 for mTw.dk with the bomb down. The next two rounds were traded, a 4v3 for mTw.dk not working out and then a 3v3 going the right way the next round.
At this point mTw.dk were facing a 7:2 scoreline for fnatic and they locked in for a big time five round run to make it 7:7. The 10th had GeT_RiGhT killing trace but the bomb blowing up and the 13th was all trace and zonic as they turned a 2v3 into a round win for the Danes. On the last round of the half anizz' two kills left it at a 2v2 with the bomb down and he added a third but once he died zonic was left with 5 hp and GuX killed him and defused to make it 8:7 for fnatic. Another first half win for fnatic, following dust2, now they needed another 8 for the win.
mTw.dk sensed the difficult situation they were in and brought out their best as three kills USP headshots from trace were followed by two USP kills from zonic at B to take the pistol. mTw.dk kept it rolling and on the 4th trace killed two but died and then in a 1v1 anizz won over dsn to make the score 4:0. The 5th also went mTw's way as trace AWPed one fnatic player mid and then later in a 1v2 situation with time running out was able to noscope dsn, switch to a colt and kill GeT_RiGht in time to defuse for a pretty heroic clutch win. With the score at 12:8 overall all eyes were on fnatic to see how they would respond. They came back with two rounds only for the Danes to take the next after a 2v1 found zonic and anizz against cArn who had planted and the stand-in got the kill. anizz and zonic saved when left alive on the 9th round and fnatic took a much needed round win.
anizz continued to impress on the 11th as he won a 1v2 to put mTw.dk up 14:12, but next round had to save a gun in B and give fnatic another win. mTw.dk seemed so close and yet saving meant they had to keep giving fnatic round wins to narrow the gap. The 13th round was incredible as mTw.dk were entirely ecoing except one player with a colt but they managed to get the surprise kills needed to spin the round in their direction and reach map and series point. mTw.dk saved their guns with four alive on the 14th, obviously needing cash the next round and trace, the hero, was sitting on 20-7.
The final round came and went for fnatic and mTw.dk had held them off and won their second straight series over an event favourite. It's hard to see how anyone could bet against these Danes right now, they're just coming together as a team in every moment they absolutely need to and trace is playing some phenomenal CS.
