The Imperial were again represented by an amalgamation of their former players, in the form of Crack Clan's new line-up. Having been judged as easily one of Europe's best teams by many community figures, the CC side representing TI had seemingly a tough job against them in the form of BTMX.Outbreak. BTMX featured players who had teamed together at i36 last April, with all players having placed in the top 6 with different teams.
Self confidence was low in the BTMX camp; indeed, previous to the event the players had considered not even turning up to the event just so they could just take the £300 second place prize without a trip to London. The Imperial.Crack Clan made the reasons for their opposition's doubts known in the best of 3 games series with a quick and smooth win.
First up was Team Slayer on The Pit, which saw Alex 'BUK 20' Buck leading the way for TI with 21 kills. BTMX could not seem to get any real chemistry going – after all, they were playing with a mix team after 'splitting up' a few weeks previously. TI.CC's practice however showed off and despite a valiant effort until the end, TI.CC won the map 50-34.
The second map was over in a matter of a few minutes. Capture the Flag on Narrows was the gametype and TI.CC bombarded the top middle of the map, controlling the power weapons and particularly the sniper rifles very effectively, taking a quick 2-0 lead. BTMX again put up a fight, looking to come back into the game and at one point trapping TI.CC in their spawn, but there were holes in the fence and TI.CC took advantage of these, capturing another flag to make the final score 2-0 in games to The Imperial.Crack Clan. This victory arguably cements Crack Clan's position as one of the best teams in Europe currently; we will have to wait until i37 however to see if they are still number one.
The Imperial.Crack Clan and BTMX.Outbreak won £700 and £300 respectively. All in a day's work.
