Our Brazilians have just defeated
Finn 'karrigan' Andersen's FaZe to win the sixth season of ESL Pro League and bring home yet another trophy waiting to be added to our already nearly full cabinet inside the Los Angeles gaming house, as well as first prize cheque consisting of a total of $225,000.
SK Gaming advanced to the playoffs with four victories and only one loss against the European team OpTic Gaming, which consists of names such as ex-Ninjas in Pyjamas players
Adam 'friberg' Friberg and
Aleski 'allu' Jalli, as well as the Danish rising star
Emil 'Magisk' Reif.
Following next for our Brazilian powerhouse was another sharp sweep semi-finals triumph over
Sean 'sgares' Gares' Misfits, in the process of which our team dropped only seven rounds in a total out of two maps.
In the single elimination best-of-five grand final we met FaZe as mentioned above. The opening map of the series was FaZe's choice Inferno, which ended up 13-16 in their favor.
The second map was Overpass, chosen by us, which despite former Fnatic star player
Olof 'olofmeister' Kajbjer's solid performance, we managed to secure thanks to our stable CT structure.
Ironically, FaZe's choice for map number three was Mirage, which resulted in overwhelming victory for SK Gaming, once again due to our Brazilians' tremendous defensive initiations.
The fourth and last map of the series was Train. SK Gaming started with eight to null rounds in advantage, but the Europeans were able to recover and turn the tide by winning the last remaining seven rounds of the first half in a row. The second half was a struggle for both teams, before our final victory was decided in overtime.
