Once again, our players have made it into the grand final of a tournament. After a rough start to the competition the team has scratched and clawed its way into the deciding matchup against the Americans of
Cloud 9 . Sometimes the path to the possible ESL One Cologne title defense was a bit rocky but in the end, our squad always prevailed and will do anything in its power to win the prestigious event that holds a special place in our hearts.
Our men displayed character and a strong will after barely getting out of the group stage and coming back from a 0-1 deficit in the quarter-final versus
OpTic Gaming . At the beginning of our semi-final against
FaZe things were clicking on all cylinders and the final score of the first map Overpass was a one sided 16-4 in our favor. The opposing side, the second ranked team in the world, put up a great contest on the second map Cache and forced the game into overtime. However, our Brazilians showed exceptional moral again and submitted only one more round for the final score of 19-16.
Our grand final opponents had a similar path to the final showdown for the trophy. They lost their first two group stage matches in a heartbreaking fashion and seemed to be stuck in a hopeless situation. After coming out on the wrong side of the 32-34 marathon against their future semi-finals opponent
Natus Vincere they faced elimination in all of their three remaining contests. Just like their skirmish against the Ukrainians, the last group phase matchup of the Americans against
mousesports also went into overtime. This time however, they were able to pull through and came out on top for the final score of 22-20.
In the first stage of the event, as well as in the playoffs, both teams had the same final results. Both rosters went 3-2 in the group stage and just like our quarter-final outcome, their final scoreline was also 2-1. In the semi-final they took revenge on
NaVi by upsetting the favorites 2-0 in a spectacular way. Mirage was the first map and was thrilling until the last minute as the conclusion was a 16-13 win for
Cloud9. The second map Overpass also went down to the wire and was decided by a tense 1v1 clutch by
Jordan 'n0thing' Gilbert who stripped to celebrate the deciding moment of the game.
Despite the video above, do not hesitate to watch the grand final stream. There is no reason for concern. Our players will try to prevent any nudity and keep the show PG by fulfilling their dream of defending the ESL One Cologne title in our organization's hometown and point the way for the upcoming PGL Major Krakow 2017.
