Below, you can find a short interview with Peter 'taylor' Krawietz, the new Team Manager, and Jannik 'Era' Huber, SK Fifa's new player.
Hello Jannik, and first of all welcome to SK Gaming! Today you made a big step in your gaming career, how does it feel to be a part of the best German Fifa team and one of the best teams in Europe?
It is a great feeling to be a part of SK Gaming now. SK is a very famous clan, and the FIFA team is the best in Germany. For two Years I have played FIFA, and I have never thought that one day I would be a part of this team. But now I am part of this team, and I could be a great addition to them!
Before joining SK Gaming, which teams had you played in? Your gaming history please...
Last Season I played for the Team F16. F16 is now known as CFG-Base. It’s a very new project, but we didn’t have so much success in last Season. My First Season I played for DFC, a fame-less clan, but we had a lot of fun and we finished as 7th. Then I joined blank, and then to Mousesports. With Mousesports I played my most successful season as yet. But know I am very happy that I join SK.
When did you get your first contact with eSports and how were your feelings about it?
The first contact to eSports I got in year 2005 I think. I had a friend in my class who was interested in Counter Strike. At that time I have never thought that eSport was such a big business. But as I saw the first IFNG I could see that eSport is a serious Sport.
So Flo and Nilsson left the team, and you joined the squad after, how balanced is SK Gaming at the moment with a 7 man line-up?
I think a 7-man line up is very balanced. We have 7 very nice players, and regardless which 5 are playing, we always have a high skilled line up.
Are there any particular matches or a community which you remember from your early days, before you were "famous"?
Yes, my second EPS war was against SK with DFC. I was a Rookie and nobody knew me. I had to play against my new team-mate and I was able to get 3 Points.
Looking more into the distant future. Do you ever see a time where you can live solely off gaming?
This is not easy to predict, eSport is more and more in business, but whether a player in Germany is able to live from eSports I cannot say. I would be very happy if this is possible, but above all in FIFA I can’t imagine that we can earn enough money that we can live from FIFA. But nothing is impossible!
Talking about eSports in Germany, do you think that it's more advanced compared to European countries?
I think eSport in Germany is very great, but I have no impressions from other countries in Europe yet. But if I see the events in Germany, I will be very satisfied, as we have a lot of competitions with some great great prizes
That sounds almost perfect for every gamer! Now skipping a little bit from the gaming questions; let's talk about your personal life. Where do you live right now?
I live in Fritzlar, it’s a little Town near Kassel in Germany. Kassel is in North Hessen and in the middle of Germany.
What are your favourite TV shows or don’t you participate in all the The 4400, Lost, Prison Break, Heroes etc?
I am not a big fan of such TV shows. When I watch TV I look for action films or Comedy. My favourite movies are Pirates of the Caribbean, Pearl Harbour and Jim Carrey films.
Thanks a lot for your time Jannik, any last shout outs before I take my next victim in, your new team manager Peter 'taylor' Krawietz?
Thanks, too. Finally I want say that I will do my best, and I hope that the year 2008 will be a successful year like 2007 for SK!
Hi taylor! How does it feel to have under your management some of the best Fifa players in the world?
It feels really great to be able to manage such a team. All of them are very great personalities and extremely skilled players, so its a pleasure for me to work with them.
Looking 10 years into the past. Did you expect that eSports would become
what it is now. Or were your expectations different?
To be honest, I didn’t even know what eSport actually was back in those days, even though I was playing video games on different consoles and so I have been already in 'touch' with eSport in some way, subconsciously. I got interested in eSport when I started playing Counter-Strike and wanted to know where actually the best teams are playing, in those times SK took home the first titles with the German and later Scandinavian Counter-Strike team. So in that way I got more and more familiar with eSport and the scene and also got to know who the people behind SK are and where they are aiming at. I still have no clue where eSports will be in some years though, but if you have people who are believing in an idea you cant fail.
When do you think the FIFA bubble will burst, and PES will take it place at some major events like World Cyber Games or European Cyber Games?
I think it depends on the effort both companies put in into the development of their games. Both games have their advantages and disadvantages. So as long as Konami won’t come up with revolutionary new features I don’t think FIFA will be pushed into the background, not
to forget the fact that FIFA is established in the scene for some time now. Personally I think FIFA is a really great game and got a lot potential to become even better, especially with a look at eSport. Would be great to have a real spectator mode for FIFA :)
How do you see the future of the FIFA scene? Already the EPS Finals matches are live broadcasted via ESL TV, what do you think about a special TV Program only with Fifa matches? Do you think that it will be as popular as "football"?
What the FIFA scene definitely needs is more attention. I think the people behind ESL TV did a good job and the first step in the right direction by broadcasting all matches live on the stage for the first time. You could see all the emotions and screaming, FIFA got a little bit more alive at this point for many people. Everyone who was following the final will agree that it was a really great and extremely exciting final, nice to watch for sure.
So what can we expect from SK FIFA this year? Another 1st place over the EPS Finals? Or maybe the ESL Major Series too?
The guys did a quite good job last season and want to continue where we finished. So there is just one target and that is to win all tournaments we compete in.
With the Team Manager position, will taylor quit his other jobs at SK Gaming?
No, I will still take care of all things I was involved in so far, so I will keep caring about SK Insider together with my mates oSi and Constantine and our Insider admins, who are all doing a quite good job and helping a lot :)
Glad to hear that! There were a lot of counter strike Tournaments for insiders on SK Gaming, but there will be some FIFA tournaments coming up this year?
Yes definitely, we will watch out for interested people and host some cool FIFA tournaments.
Looks like 2008 will be a great year for SK Gaming and their public. Are there anymore surprises that the readers should expect from you?
You can surely expect some surprises/changes within SK Insider this year :)
This is the end of our short interview, and I would like to thank you for your time and to wish you all the best as the manager of SK FIFA!
Thank you very much Ionut. Hopefully we gonna meet each other at this years finals or WCG :)
