Guitarist Rob Arnold explained the story behind this instrumental: "I had written the clean intro bit a few months before we started writing for The Infection, but was unsure how it would fit into the Chimaira realm. After Mark [Hunter, vocals] and I had compiled a batch of heavy-ass riffs deemed 'instrumental-worthy,' we put the two sets of ideas together, and it kicked ass. We hadn't written an instrumental in a few years, so knowing that we were going to do one and that we had months to write it really helped shape this one into an epic track."
that might be the case, nevertheless, but I`ve always recognized chimaira as a metal-core band, in their early stages it was some kind of a trash metal with a crack sound, nowadays they`re just purified their music to the excellence I think.
Thrash takes old heavy/speed metal like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest and such stuff and blends it with hardcore. A very fast style of metal, bands like old Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax are thrash. Modern thrash is stuff like The Haunted, Darkane, Pestilence and such stuff. Metalcore is more varied around breakdown and to create that sort of "mosh" atmosphere, metalcore bands are stuff like All that remains, Atreyu, Sonic Syndicate (new), Bring me the horizon (new). That's basically the difference, metalcore doesn't really rely too much on the "metal" image. It's more hardcore if you ask me!
Hahaha, we all have different tastes. Some like darker more relentless music, some enjoy techno or whatever. Some like happy love songs and stuff, i couldn't care less. But what i wrote here is true, ye can check it up if ye actually care =D
well, I wouldn`t put Sonic Syndicate to the metal-core genre, I think it is some kind of a screamo combined with sometimes melodic guitairs, more or less a melodic screamo.Oh boy :) ALL THAT REMAINS is a f****** heavy metal core dude, I love them , Labonte is a kickass singer and great showman, songs like six, not alone, this calling or this darkened heart and the most powerfull in the new era of metalcore.
I think it's a little of both!
Rob is such a sick motherfucker on the guitar. Chimaira rules.
