Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC) calls its readiness for the sixth ESWC season, 2008. In fifty (50) countries the top teams and players will be battleing out for the wanted spots that give chances to represent their own countries at the ESWC Grand Finals, one of the most valuable highlights of the electronic sports circuit.
ESWC 2008 features the following game tournaments:
Counter-Strike 1.6 Male
Counter-Strike 1.6 Female
Warcraft III : The Frozen Throne
Trackmania Nations ESWC
According to the statements given by ESWC, there will still be a pure First-Person Shooter (FPS) game, but it will be announced in the end of this year. "We have to wait and evaluate the mess of new games released the upcoming weeks. We want to take the time of a good choice and built its success with the communities of players," said the ESWC committee.
"We think CS 1.6 is still the best version for competition to date. It is also the most played version. We have signed a licence agreement with Valve for CS 1.6 and we thank them for their support and their trust in our project."
Informations regarding the ESWC Grand Final will be announced in the upcoming weeks, so stay tuned here at SK Gaming for further news!

One of beter events
Sorry for those who belived 1.6 was death ^^
2008 will most likely be the best 1.6 year since 1999.
I dont want to be disrespectful, but I dont believe in CSS nor Promod.
Better then Female CS 1.6
#16
hmms no, even tho the casuals still play publics with the thousands per minute. The competitive scene is slowely dissapearing by the day. Just look at how many signups we have these days on lan or online tournaments.
It's extreme low....
No way! More skill in female CS 1.6 than CSS.
haha right, half of the american top scene moved to CGS (CSS) :P Even the teams that defeated SK.swe a few times in CS 1.6. :)
haha i know it is Nagho :D
pes where?
mario bros clasic where ?
i'm glad that 1.6 will be there cos Promod doesn't have the right CS feeling, sad to say it but it's true...
and ofc, it's great to have WC3, probably for the last time :/
Hope that they will have some new good sponsors this year to give some money to the best players !!!
Really hope it s the FPS they will annouce :)
ESWC > CGS
And I'd like to add that the only thing holding CS1.6 back is greedy Valve. I really hope that in the future they will realize the potential of CS and sell those god damn airing rights. Maybe a little push from the community or the pro teams would do the trick. ^^
GO ESWC!
They moved because they had no choice, if you ask them I dont think a single one of them will say he/she prefers CSS.
And I dont say they lacked skill at 1.6, but CSS itself lacks skill (in comparison).
haha i know, i know.. it's called retro-spect. It's sometimes harder to let the old go to move to the new. Also money is a big motivation, i think a person like you knows all about that.
How ever, i do hope someday we will see more new maps in a CS Game.
