As World of Warcraft has grown to one of the biggest esport games this year, SK will now be the home of 5 new players from the guild Warders on the Stormscale realm.
Warders was founded as a Diablo2 guild in 2000 and later on switched to Dark Age of Camelot (DAoC) where they were the dominating guild on the notorious Prydwen realm. They have been playing World of Warcraft since the first release and their main focus has always been PvP.
The SK WoW team consists of: Stefan 'Zeksy' Baudin
Jonas 'Tarde' Jakobsson
Mattias 'Oteus' Franck
Michael 'Dosferra' Tofer
Thomas 'Lomas' LindmarkTheir first stop will be the Arena Tournament's European regional finals which takes place June 23-24 in Hamburg, Germany.
The leader and creative director of SK Gaming Andreas 'bds' Thorstensson had the following to say about the new addition:We are happy to welcome Warders to SK Gaming. Not only have they displayed a high amount of skill in World of Warcraft but also a very serious approach to competitive MMO gaming for a long time. The future looks very bright for these kinds of games, and we hope to grow together with this new team. Besides the competition, we will also build a strong community together.SK are more than happy to be a part of the World of Warcraft PvP community and hope to be able to develop it even more with the help of the new members, big welcome! On IRC you can find them in #sk.wow on the QuakeNet server.

What's going on at Stormscale, good PvP or something else?
#10 There were some people that started a "PvP Migration Project" where they try to get as many good PvP guilds as possible to migrate to Stormscale and thereby make it the best server in Europe for all people that loves PvP, arena, outdoor etc.

//Beyonder
Hey Irene, Kenshina and Beyonder ;)
Well, idd i agree, good team choice, and gl to warders. remember joining them for many premades, and they truely are the pvp kings currently :)
Good choice.
Silly horde with silly pvp racials ;)
They know about pvp and will represent SK very well.
That's a good point for esport and WoW in general.
Now blizzard move your ass.
Welcome guys, enjoy your stay!
wow is just a placebo
it will get down as fast as it comes up
And the reason to wow not becoming a big eSport is the lack of skill required. You can't have any major effect on what you do, it's all based on the game if you crit, parry, dodge, resist or whatever. Too much luck and other factors compared to FPS-games make the FPS-games (this far) so much better for eSports.
/Former rogue of Nashwan, Kuronity
Servants of the Lake was N1 RP wise for a very very long time EU wide afaik we were the first guild to break the 100 mil rp mark with only 35 ppl. Warders died after the zerker nerf (hi Klavrynd) pvp wise @ daoc.
But way to go Warders kick some ass!!!!
The problems with PvP combat in WoW is that you control very little of what's going on, e.g. as a warrior you have perhaps a 30\\% chance of scoring a critical hit on your opponent, if your lucky you can get a series of critical hits and kill your opponent fast. Something as simple as that could totally decide if you win or loose a game, especially in 3v3.
You also have dodge, parry, miss, resist that is \\% based. One good example of this is the WSVG final in China, Pandemic's mage dodges 2 simultaneous blows from fnatic's warrior and Pandemic end's up winning the match, if the blows had landed fnatic would've won the match. So in fact it was a totall lottery who won and who lost, the computer was on Pandemic's side, the next time it might be on fnatic's.
Beyond the basics, of which anyone can learn, the game requires very little skill. It's to random and not well suited for pro use. And I can add that I have nothing against the game, I've played it for over 2 years and have 2000+ rated arena team. Often times games in 5v5 comes down to which team that conserveded there mana best.
And beyond what I've mentioned there's a zillion other problems, like class balance and the fact that it's very hard to spectate.
What has rating on the normal BG to do with anything? They are qualified for the playoffs with only 8 other teams in Europe.
All games and sports have luck issues. In a lot of FPS games spawn is crucial (perfect example is PK) and is entirely luck. Random headshots in CS is also luck. But the more you play, the more it events out.

But still some people do it better than others, otherwise there would be no top teams in each BG. Everyone would have the same score.
I have played the game since beta, so I am quite familiar with it. And reaching a rating of 2000+ doesn't say much to be honest.
If the game is only based on luck, how come some certain teams tend to be on top all the time? They always get lucky crits?
Luck does however affect outcome in some games and even sports. A tennis player hitting the top of the net, what decides if the ball will go over or not? Luck. Sport even has another "luck" issue, referees. Maradonas hand of God goal wouldn't have happened in a computer game.
Class balance is an issue, but so is it in Wacraft III. Spectator problem is an issue, that easily can be solved.
"If the game is only based on luck, how come some certain teams tend to be on top all the time? They always get lucky crits?"
This isn't true, the top teams in most battle groups have varied alot and you will see many teams come and go, trust me. And arena play is very new still, it will get even closer as the time goes by.
But maybe this is the future of this business, but if that's the case it should change it's name from e-sports to e-games , or perhaps e-gambling. But oh well maybe I'm getting old, skill is perhaps not as important anymore but appearance and how things are perceived is what matters. Money talks in the end.
Since you can control it, it's not really luck then.. is the game working as intended.

I don't know what you're looking at, but the same top 5 battlegroup teams remain on the top 5. That is also not luck. You don't see that on counter-strike 1.6. A top 1 team could end up top 32 in the next tournament. THAT, my friend, is the product luck.
