Description
1998-1999-2000Played Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight on the MSN Gaming Zone. A peer to peer game with a 28k8 modem, resulting in some awesome pings (~700). The game's client site event handling made it playable yet very hackable. Grew bored with the game after a while, there were simply too much hackers and flamers around and the phone bills were getting too high.
Teams: JKNR, SJ, FJ
Nicks: Sol0, Deathclaw, Dark_Justice
Fall 2000
Still stuck with a 28k8 telephone modem, the only playable game at that time was Diablo 2. I spent a lot of time with this game, until at a certain point I got obsessed with it and you could say it eventually drove me nuts, especially when I was at school and I could not play it (Athlon_2o0o can tell you more about this).
In the meanwhile, I still payed some visits to the Zone. At a certain moment, I finally got a 64K ISDN modem, which allowed me to try out some decent FPS games. At that time I had my first encounters with games like Unreal Tournament, Quake 3 Arena and Half-Life: Counter-Strike, even though my main game was still Diablo 2.
2001
In 2001, I started to lose some interest in Diablo 2, because it kept giving me a 'been there, done that' kind of feeling. I decided to start playing two games: Unreal Tournament (Instagib) and Counter-Strike.
I played both games with my old Jedi Knight clan: FJ, until we decided to split and IBID (Killer_W) and I (Justice) founded Gib Collectors. We joined the Clanbase UT Instagib ladders and performed quite well with our lineup (Athlon_2o0o, IBID, UltraWave, *). This lineup proved to be very stable, as it was used for over two years.
Team: Gc (UT1999)
Nick: Justice
2002
I finally got my cable connection which enabled me to play a lot more. I lost some slight interest in UT and went to play some more Counter-Strike until the release of Unreal Tournament 2003 was getting closer. Visited my first big LAN event: Netgamez 2002 in Loosdrecht.
When UT2003 was finally released, I became a lot more active again. Gc made the switch to UT2003 almost immediately topped the Clanbase iTDM ladders.
Teams (CS): MK, CSW
Nick: Justice
2003
We were invited by PC Zone for an interview, which appeared in the March issue of 2003. I also became a game admin at Netgamez. I visited three major LAN events with Gc: Netgamez 2003A, Drome 10 and Netgamez 2004B.
In the fall of 2003, IBID and me started up our own gameserver hosting company: e-Sport Servers, and Gc merged with TDE/NL to become digital Talent. dT reached the finals of the Clanbase iTDM Cup, but lost vs royal. I also played some Need for Speed: Underground.
Teams: dT/Gc (UT2003)
2004
dT reached the playoffs of the Clanbase iCTF Eurocup and managed to top all Clanbase ladders. I dropped CS and started playing Call of Duty. Visited the Netgamez 2004A event where we surprised ourselves by winning the Call of Duty tourament. After that, the CoD team fell apart and I joined DBD for CoD.
I made the switch to UT2004, concentrating on normal weapons duels and instagib CTF. I also became the UT2004 supervisor for the upcoming NECL.
At the Netgamez 2004B event, digital Talent managed to win both the iCTF and iTDM tournaments, as well as placing second in the TDM tournament. I myself placed third in the NFSu Circuit 1on1 tournament, winning myself a nice trophy.
At the Networkingday Evolution 2004 event, I joined up with pure eSports for the UT2004 iCTF tournament. We ended up winning the tournament. Also, I ended third in the NFSu Circruit 1on1 tournament. After this event, pure eSports asked me to represent them in NFSu, which I still do.
At the GameXpo 2004, there was a Doom 3 tournament being organised, which a couple of Dutch top players were attending. I decided to sign up as well, even though I had never player Doom 3 before. I finished 5th-8th on both tournament days. After this, I started taking up duelling a bit more, resulting in me now playing Painkiller as secondary game next to NFSu2.
Teams: DBD (CoD), dT (UT2004, CoD), pure.eSports (NFSu, Doom 3)
2005
I attended my first ever international tournament, which was CPL Turkey and finished third. This was a great experience for me, and I learned a lot.
Furthermore, I have set a number of goals for myself. I will be attending a number of major LAN events in the Netherlands, which have NFSu2 tournaments hosted, and will try to win as many as possible. I will also try to win Best of Benelux tournament and the Dutch WCG Qualifier. Also, I will try to enter a number of Painkiller tournaments at LANs, and try to achieve a good level of play.
Teams: pure.eSports (NFSu2 & Painkiller), FataE (Coach)
