i don't think that the popular german comedians are known abroad. though some of them are very good.

Comedians: No, there are so many great Comedians, everywhere, I can only think of OTTO who has a certain charisma. I loved him as a child. Most of the new german comedians are WANNABES: It really sucks.
Music: OMG, Next to Great Britain, German Music Landscape is dead. So dead. I am sorry.
Rammstein are clever, they make a lot of money. But most of the money THEY make comes from Asia, not US or Germany. They are damn clever and melodic. But not my favourite band. I only admire their PR and that they have been in business for such a long long damn long time. OMG. Some of their songs are great in Action Movies. Feuer Frei, Rosenrot, Du riechst so gut, etc. really will never get out of your head. So called earworms.
So I listen to british and american and kanadian music most of the time. Because PURE german productions have silbermond, tokyo hotel... whatever, I don't even know the names. German Hip Hop is sometimes funny, but the innovative times are over. When I was 12 years old, Tobi and bo, Blumentopf, Fettes Brot and Fanta 4 were new and catchy. Now these guys are fat rich and old. But still on tour :D And they have good decent tours, Fettes Brot today makes catchy disco sounds which are being played in Hamburg everywhere. Kietz Nightlife without Fettes Brot? Unthinkable today!! So they were successful, but in Germany mostly. That's like Manu for France.
Compared to UK, Germany has less trash. We have trash, but ... BIG GIRLS YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL, ROCK MY PYJAMA... Dunno... I listen to british radio stations mostly, and I laugh my head off at that programme. It is so trashy, its almost good again.
So when I want real music, I listen to IPOD, cds's, when I want to scream in my car and laugh my head off, british forces radio station or else, HAHA :D Ok and LAST.FM at home. Last.fm roxxx
German Comedians... I know Freddy Frinton from the UK. He is great, but dead.
My favourite Comedian is Hot Fuzz, Run Fatboy Run, Spaced etc. Star SIMON PEGG.
He is so great. I will always love him. And his no-actor friends who play with him in every movie, like in Shawn of the Dead... LOL
Ok so we have music, movies, series, comedians...
But at least Germany has great theatres, musical theatres.... we had Brecht, Dürrenmatt, Kipphardt, Thomas Mann... and what did the UK do? Arcadia, Joan of Arc etc. you had nice plays, but your writers learned from ours.
Theatre: Germany bigger than USA; UK
Phantasy: UK the biggest, USA second, germany nowhere
TV: UK first, USA second.. all others, dunno :D
Music: UK first, kanada second, Gemany steals from UK except for 2step :D but we have to endure scooter who also steals from the UK ;(
Classic Fiction/ Novel Writing: Germany (die Verhandlung)! Then UK (Nick Hornby, Roald Dahl... ah so many) and France (Amélie,Sartre...) , then the US (Virginia Woolf...)

I cant think of any German bands apart from Ramstein :DD.. and Panik but only because SK advertised them :DDDD
Agreed though Simon Pegg is a legend, Miao and I loved Run Fatboy Run and also Hot Fuzz :D:D In particular Hot Fuzz because it was the fact he was so serious that was funny rather than the other films wheres its funny because he's a moron :D
I only know Ramsteim (german bands) and some old school song my brother listened to, Einz, Schvei Polizei, Drei, Fier Grenaadeer etc..
