Competetively as far as I've seen you can play duels - 1v1 or TDM/CTF (Team Death Match/Capture The Flag) 4v4, but there are other modes of the game. Duels are quite easy to understand if you want to watch or play some.
TDM and CTF on the other hand are a bit more complicated. ESL TV was just streaming a TDM yesterday and it was quite fun to watch (2GD o), you can check that if you want to learn more (they also speak there about the basics of the TDM). Here's the VOD: http://tv.esl.eu/de/#/de/vod/22049
