Quentin Tarantino

okay,I hope most of us do remember or know the awesome movies of the fresh talent Quentin Tarantino back in the 90's. but whats up with him nowadays? I mean Grindhouse(Death Proof) wasnt that good at all imo even though I know what Tarantino and Rodríguez were trying to do(creating a movie with the feeling of the old school grindhouse movies with all the gore and blood) and Kill Bill vol. 2 wasnt that great at all imho. So, what do you think? is he losing shape? and if he does, will he be up there at the top again or is the scale just to high after such great movies like Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs?

I know what you mean, his recent films haven't been anywhere near as good as his old ones. But he's still a great director, and you can't really expect all directors to create amazing films every time.

I'm sure we'll be seeing a couple more top notch films from him before he's over though.
hes always been a bit overrated to me

Yeah that's because there's so many Tarantino fanboys out there who saw Pulp Fiction and now think he's amazing no matter how good his films are.

His next movies are "Hellride" and "Killshot". So lets wait and see.

He has done bad movies before, best example is From Dusk Till Dawn 2+3
I didnt even watch them completely, had to turn off

I like more Nicholas Cage, for those who doesn't know Nicholas Cage is relative with Quentin Tarantino and he is also a film director :)

He has more freedom now, has a couple of awsome movies out, and can play around alot more and do what he loves. Not having preassure of every movie having to be "the next great movie". i like his cildish ways of explosions and fights in his later films, but i LOVE his older ones. Except Dust to dawn though :D

He is a good filmmaker without anything to say. So unless he is working with a great script from someone else (e.g. jackie brown) his movies are a mess.

Also his dialogue was new and exciting in pulp fiction and reservoir dogs, but nowadays it has become stale and stupid to have every character in his movies talk exactly like quentin tarantino.

Concluding, he should not work with his own scripts, have someone else write the dialogue and just concentrate on the directing and all will be fine, otherwise all will fail.
@NookE
i agree

Jackie Brown is a cool movie, pretty underrated one imo

actually its my favourite of him together with Reservoir Dogs

tarantino didn´t direct those movies...

first part was directed by robert rodriguez, tarantino did the script together with him

I love Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown or Kill Bill. (Sin City)

But Death Proof was really really bad! As you can see i have some film cells and picture from his movies, but i would never say all of his movies are great. But like steven spielberg or some other guys he is one of those directors, who create movies with a special feeling. and i just like it.
@aLx_
spielberg sucks =)
@Sad1c
wtf

i mean to say Cage is a relative of Francis Ford Coppola lol

@alx, Death Proof wasnt bad. It was realy good. Liked the old style and the conversations.
Was again a masterpiece. A bit more Kurt Russel "on air" would have been nice ;)
reservoir dogs, must see. really, a great movie! and go and see a movie called "Casino", its not from Tarantino, but amazing as well, same style :)

Quentin tarantino movies were good at the 90's when these kinds of movies still impressed. They don't anymore and therefore they suck since other people make such grand films with high budgets and tarantino is still left on that pathetic 90's level.

His movies were good by the expectations you had back then. Movies such as fifth element wouldn't really impress the audience today, either.

tsr, I know that Tarantino was good, but so was maradona in soccer. People change and they don't follow up in the movies. Mainstream in movies is really important and Tarantino was the head of mainstream back in the 90's. The torch has been given to someone else, as it has been for all cinemas history. The current ones will not hold it forever either so don't go wasting tears upon people who have done their prime work.

That's where you're wrong. Look at movies made in the 40's. They were amazing back then, they are incredibly bad now. A good movie is a good movie, but time takes its toll and transforms in into something else. Just like nature does with animals and with humans, cars and all objects you may ever think of.

and you are wrong right there imo, classics like Citizen Kane or Casablanca stayed amazing till today. those movies may get older but their impact and what they stand for does not.

yup, eventhough I agree that quentin tarantino isn't very good for wich I gave some arguments in a previous post . Saying that classic movies are incredibly bad now is complete nonsense. Sure they don't contain 100 million dollar cgi special effects (wich rarely improves a movie anyway). Instead they are focused on what they were able to achieve at that time, wich is good story telling and good acting. Truly great movies are timeless anyway.

The fact that the movies Tarantino made such as "From Dusk till Dawn" had a huge budget it didn't have any acting talents whatsoever since it was a movie which contained almost nonstop shooting meaning the movie went totally out of the frames of "good". Pulp fiction is all about drugs and parties and just plain shit robberies, that too is not really in the frame of "good".
Let's just take his latest work... Hostel..... Irony: I've never seen a better movie.

Hostel isnt even his work, he just produced it so Eli Roth can put his name in the title so get your facts straight before trying to argue pls...

btw you did not understand a tiny bit of what Pulp Fiction is all about. It's not just only about the story like you try to point out, its about the brilliant writting and fantastic dialogues.

Tarantino was a part of the movie, ENOUGH SAID. You think his words ment nothing? You ought to increase your brain value with the double if you didn't get that.

Tarantino was. Not is.

Tarentino is not a bad director at all. He should just stay away from writing his own scripts and dialogue, because clearly he isn't very good at it. Instead he should focus on what he is good at, wich is directing movies and leave the scripts and dialogue etc to other more capable people.

The question is if his ego can handle it, to wich the most likely answer is no. So he is doomed to fail anyway.
It's either you hate him or you love him. Simple.
