This old thread was very popular at the old website, so I ought to bring it back:

And american english. :))
And of course, my own language, Swedish! ;))))

I guess my vote goes to Spanish or Italian, and Russian for some reason, even though it sounds pretty aggressive

+4 thumbs

40% french? lal But i'd trade any time this language for some of your blondes :>
+1 thumbs

Hahahahah :)))
-1 thumbs

Well, 40% probably is a little too much, but perhaps 35% or 30%, it's actually more than 1/4.
Sweden had a extreme connection with France a few hundred years back. Our current king is of french decent, since his ancestor was a french soldier. :)
Without knowing it, I probably use hundreds or even thousands of french words each day.

Hmm i still doubt that...I guess the only way to find out for myself is to get in bed with a swedish chick :>
Nah, on a serious note, i have seen and heard swedish and i couldnt associate much of it with french. Maybe your connection is purely royal ancestral...

The thing is I can mention many words which is the same, however we spell the differently so I cannot make the list since I don't know the spelling of the french words. However, I will write some Swedish words and see if you can associate them with the french.
Paraply, Disträ, Publik, Teater, Hollandaise, Kulliss, Ekipage, etc.
I will search for a complete list later. :)

yea i see some small similarities, but most of these are common (with minor spelling differencies) in many languages. Maybe just 'paraply' and 'kuliss' are like special on that list. But pls do bring up a larger list, i'm intrigued now :>

There was a famous swedish auther who made a list, containing probably hundreds of words, but I can't find it :8

youre a funny fuck
you will find various french words in any european language, since france used to rule europe at certain points
if english which probably has more french/latin than german vocabulary is still considered a germanic language, then swedish is nothing but a little german dialect :>

True but the french domination severely changed the entire face of Sweden back in the 1600's and you can find many promising features from that era still today. Yes, I am fully aware of that you can find a lot of those in other countries as well, but the entire face of what it ment to be swedish was threatened by the domination and the locals in Sweden was afraid the entire Swedish language was to disappear.
