Synchronisation
hi there!
I want to share with you the subject about synchronisation in TV series and movies.
I live in Switzerland and we have two channels for movies and series. The series/movies are synchronized into German, but fortunately there is an option to switch to English.
As we don't have any more exciting channels I also watch the channels of austria (ORF 1) and Germany (Pro 7, Kabel 1, RTL, Sat1 and MTV Germany). These channels do synchronize the series/movies into German.
I understand that some people who don't speak English, want to understand the contents of the serie/movie. But why don't they give you the option to change it.
Is it the same in your country? And why do you think they don't give you the option?

For that option you need digital TV and most ppl still have normal cablevision.
PAY TV channels and digital TV etc you can choose the language.
Even if you speak good english, its sometimes hard to understand when its not your native language couse they speak to fast or with a slang or use special/specific words which you dont learn in school/eng classes.
Channels like Pro 7, Sat1, Kabel 1 are doing realy good synchronisation. While RTL/RTL2 do bad stuff mostly (Heroes, Prison Break etc)
I watch those shows all in english and have no problem understanding. I use german sub if sth isnt understandable ;)
Dexter and Heroes for the win btw :)

and if i do, i dont watch movies or tv shows
We have subtitles
Dubbing just drives me insane and I think subtitles improves your English a bit (at least more than just dubbing it into whatever your native language is)

not a bit, a lot
Hypen, with cablevision you cant do it. Need sth like Premiere World, around 180 Channels and you can choose subtitle, language etc
You need digital TV, PayTV and so on. On that channels they can give you the opportunity to change language.
Dubbing is not bad. Movies are mostly dubbed very good (at least in Germany). Only some TV series where they do it bad. But most of them are also good dubbed.
