they started in 1990, punk started in 1977 or even earlier (US bands like Ramones, NY Dolls etc)
and for me lagwagon isn't typical punk so it can't be the best punk band

My favorites are Sex Pistols, Ramones, Rancid, Lower Class Brats. I can't tell which one is the best :)

Just old-school trend. Iam not a big Rancid, but think that they are kinda best SKA band(cuz of "and out come the wolves").

SKA is really different music ^^ ..it has really different guitars and horns! Rancid are combining punk sometimes with reggae but not SKA. Listen to for example Streetlight Manifesto or any other real SKA band and you'll hear that's totally different

anyway, lagwagon is not typical punk, more this kind of punk rock or whatever you want to call it...
