To be fair buddy, it's incredibly hard these days to become a "pro" on the international circuit. Mostly it's old names with new lineups and changes. If you look at the pro's i'd say most of them have been playing it since release if not 1-2 years after so your looking at over 7-8 years experianc e. In my opinion i would just keep playing watching pov's and just enjoy it, i really wouldnt aim to get up their with the best on 1.6 as it's a really hard to get in to. It's sort of like wanting to be a pro footballer, there are lot's of people who get in to good acadimes *spelt wrong* but a very small percentage of them go through and even then it's not certain you will make it. Having said all this it's great to have the dream and anything can happen in this e-sports scene so keep working at it buddy. :D

well , i'm romanian , and here is my advice , i'm not a pro gamer .
it's like doing BMX stunts , and you dont even know how to rike a bike , you learn how to ride a bike , you practice , then learn tricks , break some bones ( :)))) ) , etc. etc. and IF YOU WANT TO BECOME GOOD , YOU WILL
First , play 5 vs 5 , 2 vs 2 , gathers if you like , and practice , your time will come , you think that spawn get good after one night?? noooo , he likes what he is doing , he knows that he could , if you know that your skills dosen't have ending , you can be verry good. go and practice 2-3 hours on a respawn server , for head shot aim , search deathmatch mode + only aim
i wish you luck , now i live in spain and i play with spanish dudes , and they have some skills ( not all ) :) insx , adivce , don't play on pubs , play on internacional servers , i play with friends pgl in romania , but training in france , sweden , germany
so Practice Practice Practice / this is the good "food"
for spraying? well , use your mind , and control the recoil , don't try once , twice , etc
training is good , i train my spray on dm servers , and it's good
wish you luck /romania pe veci :)

I've been playing for two years, and i hardly ever PCW / gather / etcetc.
I'm a pub hero instead..
Instead of trying to go pro, if i were you i'd try find some friends to play mix's with, i've played about 10 in 2 years, and i wish i could play them every day :D:D:D
Just have some hope and you will find a good team to play with. Once you find a good team, you play with them and try to go pro, you can't 'go pro' on your own.

You need to desire to be number one, not like anyone else, not just a pro but to be better than anyone else. Set this goal and try to achieve it, althrough i think u will never be the world's most elite counter-strike player chances are like 00000.1, but still you need that desire to get better. I mean you REALLY got to want it..

The only way to become to pro is to play and play and play and...play ?
You've to play as much as you can, and to get a realy high level that means a hell lot of time...
Pracctice with BOT's, in DeathMatch, in gathers / pcw's and watch some POV's ...
But the fastest and most important way is to attend a lot of LAN events... There are a lot in Romania (PGL events)...

My guess is, if you want to become pro to set your mind to gaming,.. only gaming. Plan your day like;
- few hours of aiming and playing on deathmach server
- watch some demo's
- talk strats with your team
- practice a couple of hours with your team
- then more aim practicing
The only way to prove yourself is by partisepating to lan events, this way you will promote yourself en gain experience.

Despite what people may think, eSports is not some nerds playing 24/7 until they become inhumanly good at the game. Just playing the game won't get you far especially in a far evolved scene like Counter-Strike.
What are needed are the same qualities atheletes of more physically requiring sports require aswell: motivation, dedication, will to win and opportunism.
By playing a lot you might get exceptionally skillful, but just being exceptionally skillful will not get you noticed in the masses of other aspiring players, or you'd need to be supernaturally skillful/lucky to get noticed.
You'll need to learn how to get contacts and promote yourself to advance to the top, a good player who is not known will not get anywhere.
Excerpt from The Art of CS, buy the eBook if you can afford to spend the 25$ or so.
"Climbing the ladder
The best way to climb the ladder is having a friend or acquainance who can involve the player with better players, whether this is getting him into pugs/scrims or simply vouching for his talent with them. In this scenario the player is advisided to take every opportunity to meet and associate with better players he gets through this contact. Once involved with that superior peer group the player can set about impressing them with his skill, attitude and general contributions. The player should focus upon his strengts and be himself so as to have this group of players remember him and be drawn to him as a player and personality.
For those players without friends who can put them in ocontact with the next level of players the route is more difficult but there are still things which can be done to maximise one's chances. Again the key is focusing one's strengts so that team-mates and opponents can be impressed by the best elements of one's game and these will be remembered. Top fragging, creating frag movies and outplaying one's opponents on a consistent level will draw attention and get the player noticed.
Personality goes a long way in the gaming world. This is not limited to purely having people like the player but also all the little qualities about his personality and style which will impress others and create value in their minds. Staying positive, supporting team-mates, being vocal and intense are little things which are needed to build chemistry with people. General contributions can include extra bonuses such as web design, strat making abilities, anti-stratting knowledge and scheduling, all little things which can help a team."
eSports is very young, so becoming pro is hard and you'll have to do everything by yourself but if you want something there's no reason not to try and achieve it.
Don't worry about when will you be pro, concentrate on the moment and how to move to the next level right now.
In short: the most important skill after playing skill is networking, you need to get contacts higher up that you can use to climb upwards and leave the noob gathers behind. To get contacts you need to learn how to promote yourself and how to get noticed.
