I was wondering if any of you guys think its worth buying a lcd monitor, given its max refresh rate. Its really low! But I highly doubt that cpl would use it if it made the tiniest difference. Does anyone know if it does? Or if, i don't know, 83 horizontal Hz in lcd monitors, given that the technologies are different, is really the equivalent for 160 horizontal Hz in crt monitors?
Also , does 640x480 in cs look an absolute crap in anything bigger than 19''?

I just know that new LDC monitors have a technology which make you to set their hertz to 85 or 100.
And about 19" monitors i think the answer is Yes.I didn't play on a PC with 19" monitor more than 10 mins.

I used to use an LCD for CS, and in my opinion CRTs are much better for CS. Lower resolutions look a lot better, and 120Hz on 640 is niiiice :)

If possible, have an LCD for everyday use, and use a CRT just for CS.

well the whole comparing LCD to CRT is wrong in the way you put it. LCD's do not use refresh rates but they use 3 crystal displays, one for each color, and light goes through each pixel in each panal and it's either blocked or not ( sorry for the tech talk :) ) but in the end, a CRT running at at least 100 hz is better than a LCD running at 75 hz. Also, you can use any resolution with a CRT and it won't look disfigured or stretched/compressed, since LCD's are only good for their native resolution.

I agree taht CRTs are currently better for CS. But for work and any other actions on PC LCDs are better.

CRTs are better but sooner or later LCDs will be improved :)

Hm, I'm using 19 LCD monitor with 75 Hz and I can't complain

CRT for cs/q3 and LCD for other applications because I have the required space.But if I have to choose One, i'll take Lcd(less place and better images)
