1.6 is dying, css is shit, cspromod failed majorly.... now what?

First of all - cs 1.6 will not die. At least not yet.
Second of all - If you just simply not like the game, then it doesn't mean that the game is dying.
And third - you should know that there is worldwide crisis, so when economy in whole world again will be stable, then gaming and counter-strike 1.6 will rise again.

CS 1.6 is not dying. Only loosing players who couldn't play the game and that converted to CS:S.
it isn dying.too many players..BUT,losing many because it is pretty .it isnt realistic as it should.have u ever played mw2?the multiplayer feeling is awesome
