Explanation for config commands?

Hia, I'm a fresh newbie - as you can see, and i have a question to all you experienced and knowing guys!

I have config.cfg and userconfig.cfg both full of somekind of commands that I know nothig about.. I read some of those threads about best configs and they all just said that "your own is best" so now I'd like to create "my own best cfg" ;P
I have a quite powerfull PC and 24/1M dsl, so I don't need "low grpah cfg", but just some that works best for me and my PC & connection.

Below you can see my cfgs and if you have some improvement to those or something to add, please tell me :] I'd really appreciate if you could tell me where those improvements/additions take affect! It would be nice to learn where those command affect anyways.

And what does affect to that how far one can hear? Settings or hardware-volume?

Here is my cfgs atm:

Your config is fine, you don't need to worry about the majority of commands in it anyway.

As long as you have cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate set at a proper level (80-100) and ex_interp set (0.01) that's all you really need, everything else is preference.

Make sure you have your rate set high also (15-20k)

The default is 2500, but with todays connections you can handle the higher rate without you ping going through the roof.

rate 25000 cl_updaterate 101 cl_cmdrate 101

in my country the internet is sux and we dont use ex_interp 0.01,we use ex_interp 0.1

Your rate is at 30000 because of what you set your connection speed in steam, rates don't have anything to do with how good your pc is. set your rate to anything between 15-20k and your cmdrate and updaterate to 80-100.

try rate 20000 or 25000 and cl_updaterate 101 cl_cmdrate 101 or cl_updaterate 100 cl_cmdrate 100

Not a problem.

Okay, so my configs are fine, thanks. What about that sound thing? Why my friends can hear things from distance that I can't?

Don't change sv_maxrate or the sys commands. Setting ex_interp to 0 will let the server change the value depending on what rates you have set.

You don't need to change it, seriously.

dont change man...

you need to set updaterate the same as fps max, or ur max hz., on lcd u need updaterate 75\80 and fps_max 75\80.

Can you state a reason for that? Sounds kinda funny. I've got lcd and 101 rates & fps_max 201. My lcd doesn't suffer from inputlag so it can up with crt (I have tested it).

What does it matter if ones rates and fps_max is above that what ones monitor can disaplay? Any arguments for this claim?

Ok listen, just keep the default config, too make a config "yours" u have too change things wich feels best for you.
commands like ; crosshairsize, crosshaircolor, translucent crosshair, mouse sensetivitie, mouse accel, radartype, key bindings, things like that..
and offcourse netsettings, but since u have a good connection these will do fine.
rate 25000
cl_cmdrate 101
cl_updaterate 101
ex_interp 0.01
but if a wanna "play" a bit with these kind of settings (netsettings) u can always read this. keep in mind it could be outdated
http://www.gotfrag.com/cs/story/5577/
http://www.overclock.net/pc-games/142120-info-cs-1-6-rates-explained.html

for somewhat advanced settings u can use this,
http://nooniz.wippiespace.com/CS/Launch%20Options.txt

good luck with making your own config..

Thank you very much :]
That helps to understand a lot more than "change it to this and that cause it's good" :P

My rates are fine, but the biggest change was picmip - as I changed it from 1.5 to 0.5. It's easier to handle and to spot little movements imo. Sharper \o/

Thanks to all repliers!

Get better phones lol.

download my cfg, the best evah

ex_interp changes hitboxes. With 0.1 they come after the player and with 0.01 they come same time as the player.

yup, that's it, but in the internet it can cause more lag

You learn all the commands by the time. At first, when I was a noob, I didn't know any of the commands. But now I can:P
You just need to look at them and try to find out what they mean, or you can change them and see whats happening. But I suggest that you should look @ http://www.counter-script.net/index.php?id=42. There you can learn multum of commands:PPppPP

FALSE, ex_interp should be at 1/cl_updaterate
if your updaterate is 100, it should be to 1/100 = 0.01
as default, it is set to 10 (that's why 1/10 = 0.1)
the correct value for net AND lan is 0.01 (except if you have bad rates)
if you put ex_interp 0, it will auto put it to 1/cl_updaterate
I have updaterate 100, ex_interp 0 (= 0.01)

u need updaterate =hz, i have good system but lcd and have rates at 75 because its a totally diffrent play, i was playing at 101 too but the moment i changed the diferrence was great. anyway u cant have 100fps no mather what configuration u have if ure monitor is >100hz.

gogle cs rates for explanation. and interp=0. bbye

rate 30k now.

cl_mdrate 100

ex_interp 0.1 is for moviemaking and watching HLTV. this results more delay and lagg ingame. everything below 0.05 is acceptable.

can somebody say me what is s_distance?

Its fine.

rate 25000
cl_cmdrate 101
cl_updaterate 101
ex_interp 0.01

with ati videocard:
ati_npatch "1.0"
ati_subdiv "2.0"

without ati videocard:
ati_npatch "0"
ati_subdiv "0"

my rates, 25000 / 101 / 101

if i set interp 0 , it makes ex_interp 0.09 --'

Hey, can you tell me why do you use ex_interp 0.01 or 0.1 ????? send me a message pls... zzz

cl_cmdbackup 2
cl_updaterate 50 or 60
cl_cmdrate 105
ex_interp 0.05
ex_extrapmax 1.2
rate 20000

Leave untouched most of the commands
just edit net settings, radar, keybindings, weapon assigment and crosshair.

my cfg :D NICE:D
