We've seen CS 1.6 become THE competitive FPS team-based game in eSports. Source will never take over or come close to the lifespan and skill of 1.6.

What games should the youngun's be playing now to one day be seen as the stars the current 1.6 players are? I don't see anything in the scene right now that comes close to 1.6 but there's no way to break into the top 1.6 scene. Is the future in RTS? Insane amount of brain-power and skill put into those games.

What do you guys think?

It's true, Source will never take over 1.6, and now with CGS dead, it has no hope. RTS games were once quite large, but they've died down now.

1.6 is the present AND the future as of now, there is no game with the potential popularity or the "feel" that will create competition.
