My CS is Blurry!

Hey guys, I'm having a problem with my CS 1.6 lately. For some reason, I can't seem to figure out, my CS has become blurry at almost close range, textures and models, etc. Hope someone can help me here! :) I normally play at 800x600 resolution, but I recently changed it to 1024x768 resolution just to see if it would fix the blurring, but it didn't, it still blurs in the same spot as it does in 800x600, and in 640x480. I've tried GL_LINEAR_MIPMAP_LINEAR and it doesn't help, It seems to be with some setting with NVIDIA or a CVAR in CS. Anyways, here are my settings and all that stuff!

Counter-Strike 1.6 Settings

Thanks in an advance for any help! Much appreciated.

set the quality on the best, and make this:

Texture filtering - Anisotropic mip filter optimization: ON
Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample optimization: ON

Alright first I tried with all optimizations on, still stayed the same. Then I tried setting Quality to High Quality, same thing. When I run anywhere (ie: from T spawn to lets say alt mid on inferno) I see the line that when it blurs. Like when I'm running up alt mid, I'll see the horizontal blur line keep moving up as I do. Is that normal, even for a CRT monitor?

it's normal for CS...

if u play 120hz on crt it can get blurry too...

try 100 hz if the nvidia setup doenst work :)

put anisotropic filtering to 4x or higher

go on 640x480

write in the console "kill", then open your window and jump over there.

dude do 1 thing
go to C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\youraccount
Inside this there's the "counter-strike" folder
just delete it, don't worry it'll come back when you open CS through steam again.

This should fix it.
If not then go to nvidia.com >Find Drivers > automatically detect latest drivers for me
Once your drivers are updated ,restart computer and then go to nvidia control panel, it can be found either on the taskbar or control Panel

From there you need to turn off Vertical-sync for HL.exe
3D Settings > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > Find HL.exe or else browse and locate it (it will be inside your counter-strike folder once you open CS again after deleting it) > Godown the bar and select Vertical-sync , set it to "Off"

If problem still consists try this as well
3D Settings > Adjust 3D Settings with image preview >Us my personal emphasizing > Shift the tab to performance

If this doesn't help god knows what will.

you think you got problems mate check this out

wtf? :|

bad init :(

"set the quality on the best, and make this:

Texture filtering - Anisotropic mip filter optimization: ON
Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample optimization: ON"

I tried this, if i set quality to high quality, disables all optimization, if i set to quality with all optimizations on, doesn't seem to change anything.

Chief I tried those settings you have, and unfortunately, I still have the same blur.

b1o, my monitor supports 120 Hz @ 640, 100 Hz @ 800, 85 Hz @ 1024. I don't even want to know what 640 looks like, but I already use 100 Hz at 800x600 resolution, and I can only go up to 85 Hz at 1024.

Anisotropic seem to help a little bit, still see a slight blur, but it seems to mess up my hitboxes for some reason if I enable AF or AA, so I'd prefer to keep them disabled if possible.

akm, just for the heck of it, I figure I would try it, for some miracle it would work out of nowhere on 640, but it's actually the same as 800, it blurs at the same distance, it didn't even make it worse, just stayed the same, a bit of texture shimmering, but that's doable.

FracturePande, thank you for that post with different options in it, unfortantly, none seems to have worked, I always have vsync off in cstrike, I've never tried it on, maybe that will fix it, worth a shot. I know it's an old game, I can live with the crap graphics (i play for the awesome gameplay), but the blurriness, causes me to get killed from spots like that in crack house on inferno, you can imagine on fire haha, long range they just turn to basically squares, their head somehow dissapears and its just a square, but I'm not worried about that. I've tried 2 different CRT monitors, this 17" and a 15" just to see if a smaller one would fix it, both blur at the same line, I even tried on my laptop which does the exact same thing, even playing at native resolution with widescreen. I'm assuming it's something in my control panel, from what I see, everyone has all their graphic enhancing settings turned off, I'm just curious to how they see everything so easily, I know there's something I'm missing somewhere! :( Also, I heard something about an OpenGL switcher for ATI, switches OpenGL driver to older one, I'm assuming more compatible with quake engine, etc. Does NVIDIA have one like that? And one more question, what if I were to download an old driver, like 44.03, and just extract the nvoglnt.dll from it, and copy/paste it to my gldrv folder, do that whole routine, would it use that version of the driver or would something go wrong. Sorry for the long long LONNNNGGGG post, but I haven't responded in a while, had to get everyone. :) Thank you all for trying.

well I think this happens because your on a 7 series video card
@ the local lan I play at the cs appears blurry tooo and it's running on a 7300 GS
I believe the 8 series onwards cards don't provide such a problem.
Check up with your friends who own 1and try it on their PC

I got this too...i dont see any problem here :|

kast i älv'a

(: i don't have problem too

Anisotropic filtering: 16x

GL_TEXTUREMODE "GL_LINEAR_MIPMAP_NEAREST"

just change:
Antialiasing - Mode to Override any aplication setting
Antialiasing - Setting - 8x
Antialiasing - Gamma coreetion ON
Antialiasing - Transparency ON
