i have a question i got pentium 4 3.0 ghz 1024 ddr2 memory video card geforce 6600 256mb
and i got unstable fps drops.. and im thinking about by a video card to improve my fps
if i buy a video card its will improve my fps and the recoil or i should buy new pc ;D

you dont need a new videocard for only cs 1.6
this one works great for cs 1.6, cs still runs on the old half life engine.

if you want higher fps:
fps_max 101
cl_showfps 1

and turn vsync off at videocard options (google it if you cant find it)

damn guyz u dont understand me i dont wanna buy a new pc i just wanna buy a video card i got with my geforce 6600 100 fps but its not stable some times got drops..

you dont need a better vid card omfg cs 1.6 is such an old game.
do you have vsync turned off? do you clean your pc from the inside, like with a vaquim cleaner or how do you call it.

ps: if you mean that you dont want fps drops when you are walking in (5+) smokes try geforce 8800GT/8800GTS/8800GTX, or ati radeon HD3870.

why sli 8600gt, and not 8800gt, did you know 7800gtx is even better than 8600gt?
if you buy new one, dont take 9600gt, take 8800gt. 800series always better price/quality ratio than 600series of the new one.

take ati sapphire radeon hd3870, if you throw 100smokes, still no fps drop, seriously.
i bought it new for 125euro.

i have 7900GS 512mb/256bit it's perfect for CS (50 fps in 10 smokes,100 fps in 5 smokes) and for other games...i play COD4 with it..no lag

XFX 8600GTS works fine, but planing on getting a Evga 8800 might order sometime soon, don't really need it though so don't know yet. but newegg.com very cheap now went down a lot like 180$ with mail in rebates :]

lol i have the same hw man .) ... i think that card is good ... try to download some gui .. i recommend CEVO GUI V3 ... that helped me to keep my fps more stable ... i have got same drops like u .. on big places .. like A on train or in smokes ... my helper was cevo gui :D ... think u will need some from card which are written by the guys .)

Listen if you want 100 fps all the time, do it like me , buy an HD4870 :$

look at the setup for your videocard and disable vertical syncronisation and you got 100 fps.test it :D

yea good video card will improve your fps. im not sure about your recoil :-\

But guys its COUNTER STRIKE this game doesnt need amazing card.. if you have vertical sync turned on no matter what card could be the best in the market you will get 70 fps! I got 8800 GT and even that with vsync on gets 70, turn vysnc off for counter strike and your fps will go to 100 try that!

i got 8500gt and cs runs at fps 100 all day everyday.. smokes arent a problem.

DONT USE ATI 9200-9250 series 256 mb pci...it totally sucks...i cant even get 100 fps when i am alone with fps_max 101 fps_modem 101 cl_updaterate 101 cl_cmdrate 101 developer 0
