I have a lil` problem with my PC during playing Counter-Strike 1.6...i can`t play cause i have lowfps...30-40-50...max. 60 and i don`t understand why!

with my old PC(Celeron D 2,4 Socket. 478/ 512 Ram DDR400/ Gigabyte ATI Radeon 9550 128Mb DDR1 128Bits) was better in game...80-90-100fps! with a lower video card than now...

now i have Intel Celeron 2,80Ghz Socket 775/ Gigabyte 945P-DS3/ 2Gb Ram DDR2 667 Kingmax Mars/ nVidia GeForce 7600 GT 266Mb DDR3 128Bits and i can`t play so well cause i have low fps...
it`s an abnormality...now with a better PC and a better Video Card i can`t play...

i played with the same monitor, resolution and refresh rate: Samsung SyncMaster 940NW at both PC`s...
how can be explained?

i use same Counter-Strike software...Steam License with same default CFG and those commands: fps_max 101, developer 1, cl_updaterate 35, cl_cmdrate 101, rate 25000...

the PC is in good standings, i use virus clean software, registry cleaner, hdd is defragmented and i use 2 aditional 80mm fans into case...

i mention i tried the original driver and the last one form nvidia.com...same problems

Have you installed the chipset driver of the mainboard?

i think that the problem is here with ram :you have DDR2 not 3 what your graphic card has and that may be a factor in your low FPS and not forget the Processor:D Celeron AMD was a better choice:P

mane n`are nicio treaba Ram-ul placii video cu Ram-ul fizic...din contra memoriile DDR3 pe placa video dau o performanta mai buna placii video...

ram and video card memory have NOTHING in common. That's the most stupid thing i've ever heard netandrei. CS is a CPU-dependant game, only the smokes are a video-card problem.

u just need to configure all your hardware and software properly i guess, example vsync

Antialasing settings - Off

i`m thinking about the CPU...i know Celeron is a low CPU and i think he is the problem...i`ll change with a Core2Duo...

i`ve tested Ram with Memtest no error, Video card has no errors with an artifact scan, computer i cleaned and the temperatures in SpeedFan are: GPU:49/HD0:42/Core:52...nothing unusual!

but i still don`t understand with CPU...
when i have Duron a lot of years ago i played better...with 80-90 fps!

Duron has 200FSB when Celeron has 533FSB, Duron has L2 cache 64kb OMG and Celeron D LGA775 has 512kb...

so Duron can be compared with an socket 370 Celeron at 1200Mhz not with a LGA775 Celeron at 2,8Ghz! it`s strange but it`s true!

You should try Reinstall the OS.
Or Reflash your BIOS.
Instal new Motherboard drivers and CPU drivers.

i have ati radeon X1950 Pro and i always have 100 fps, doesnt matter how much smokes there are.

then i bought a new pc with geforce 8800 gts i have same problem, but i change vsync to off, and now i have 100 fps,

umm maybe u have some viruses in your PC. i have 7600GT for about 2 years and no problems yet :\

1st, check your power supply, if you system doesnt have enough power, it ruins your game

2nd, check your system for any virus, background software , update software, it low you fps also

3rd, turn off any progarms running in the windows, maybe your CPU celeron is not strong enough to manage many works
