5Hv2 or PC 161
SteelSound 5Hv2 or Sennheiser PC 161 is better for G4MING?
I don't think those two can be compared efficiently. You should compare the 5H v2 to Sennheiser 350 and there I definitely think the 350s would win. :o).
haha Danny.... after working at a company your insight should be better... you should know that the PC350 is a closed type headset with passive noise cancellation whereas the 5Hv2 is an open type headset without any type of noise cancellation... that in itself, plus the fact that they are in two different price ranges, makes it extremely difficult to make a fair comparison in my opinion.
I would love to hear your reasoning for why you don't think the 161s and the 5h's arent comparable. :)

SteelSeries-Aurora,
I'm sorry, but where did I state that you can't compare the two? I recall using the word efficiently.
Reason being that PC161 and 5H v2 are so different in their designs, that I can't tell fix-- what headset is the best, as that would be a personal preference for him, considering that the audio technologies used today are pretty much the same and probably better than the ones used when 5H had its breakthrough in 2006.
Anyway, my point is that I didn't want to go into the direct comparision of the specifications, as they are pretty much the same, so is the sound experience, except for the fact that 161 is good for both gaming and music, where 5H v2 can only be recommended for gaming. Keep in mind that 5H was only designed for Counter-Strike and has never been optimised for other games.
As SteelSeries does not have a headset that sits on the ear, I suggested that he should compare the 5H v2 to the PC350, as both of those headsets have an open-ear build. I'm sorry for not making myself clear enough.
However, funny enough, I would think that you would have a better insight to gaming equipment, considering you have worked for two companies within this field. You should know that it's more or less a question about the preference people have in gaming equipment, as the sound doesn't change remarkably anymore.
Please feel free to compare the 161 to 5H v2. I will read your comparison with great interest.
And thanks for commenting by the way. :o). If I didn't know any better, it would look as if you interpreted it as a personal attack. Now Louise, why would you do that?

danny - you make me laugh :)

1. its called circum aural - not open ear build..
2. to compare things based on the way they sit on your ear is a comfort choice - it doesnt tell the person what is best for gaming.
Danny you know i love you - but you sometimes you just crack me up! if you think that me replying is a personal attack on you, or that its a personal attack on me, just proves that you dont have anything relevant up for debate.
and for the record - my insight into gaming equipment - plus the fact that i have worked for both companies is WHY i wrote a reply... i never mentioned which i preferred or why - i merely asked why you thought it was inefficient to compare two very comparable headsets :) but now i know.. you said they were incomparable because of the way they sit on your ears :)
apparently acoustics has absolutely nothing to do with comparing gaming headsets in your mind as they are all basically the same sound wise?

What can I say Louise, I'm a funny guy. But it seems that you got my point - it's a personal preference. I'm not going to tell him to buy one over another, as I don't know if he likes a high or low frequency headphone.
Thanks for correcting me with the open ear build, but it's actually called circumaural - the words aren't separated. We can also just call them fullsize headsets, so there's no doubt in your mind about what I mean.
I'm sure you're looking to prove a point here, Louise, so please enlighten me with your expert knowledge, so we can close this discussion easily. Having worked for Sennheiser earlier and currently working for SteelSeries, you must have some knowledge about the two that you can compare to one another.
What makes these two headsets so different GAMING WISE and which one is better in your book?
Again, remember that gaming isn't just in terms of Counter-Strike.
Love you too. ;o).
