Graphics card borken or. . ?

Hi All, I think I may have an issue with my 7950 GTX grpahics card. I just powered the laptop up in the morning as you do, and I see weird patterns and shades of disstortion on my screen. I re-formatted my laptop (Dell XPS M1710) thinking it may help ressolve the issue, but sadly it didnt. I have tried to re-install the graphbics driver, but it seems to install it then it freezes my PC and makes it look even more disstorted.

Please see the print screens below and advise me if possible.

Thanks in advance,

Dunno if it's just me but the pictures aren't showing up on imageshack (us? lol) but it sounds like overheating to me. Getting the weird colours and patterns on the screen can also be because of overclocking your card too far. If I were you I'd open the laptop and clean out all the fans and see how it is after that.

nope i dont think its broken ... i had a 7900 Gts on my desktop ... its just the gpu ... the 7000er Series is crap ... the gpu get overclocked and so it crashs and u may get pixel problems ... since these failures i bought only ATi ^^

Hey mate just wanted to tell you call Dell support and ask them for help! i had an XPS M1530 some months ago but my harddrive crashed so i called support and they came to my place and fixed my PC for none charge. and gave me an better harddrive :)

Thanks for the help! The GPU overheated and cuased irreversible damage. Dell are coming out to replace the part, but due to me not covered under the warrenty any more it is costing £350. Fun fun fun!! Maybe i should of got a laptop cooler :'(
