Just wondering who people thought were the best racing gamers in the world, been playing a lot of N4S and GRID and just wondering who are the best racers out there.

Very much depends on the game, back in the CGs days I got pretty good at Project Gotham, but since I havn't really moved onto anything specific but have played various need for speed games and am really enjoying Midnight Club:La at the moment.

Forza still has quite a following, end of the day the best racer is whatever the top gamers are playing AND that you enjoy!

for me it's still Forza Motorsports 1 and 2 and don't forget the Gran Turismo series

Actually you can not really compare all the games, imo.
I think competitive guys are good racing drivers in _their_ game.

NFS, TM, PGR, GRID, Forza, RACE07, RACE Pro, GTR Evo, GTR 2, GTR, LFS, iRacing, rF....
... there are so many racing games.

You can't say that Need for Speed drivers are the best, because they will probably suck in GTR due to lack of experience or talent or whatever. But i doubt as well that a GTR Pro Gamer will be one of the best Need for Speed Players.
The can only connect the games of their genre. Probably NFS vs GRID & GTR vs LFS vs rFactor vs iRacing.
But even then it's hard to say which game does have the best racing drivers.
In my opinion you should call them best "NFS players" or "GTR drivers" and all in all, every top player of a racing game is a good racing driver imo, some in more realistic and others in arcade games...

Arcade and simulation games are not the same :)
