How to become a Pro in DotA
I`m kinda new in the games, i`ve played for almost 7 years in Warcraft, and just 3 years ago i started to DotA. Many people are calling themselves a Pro! just what is the definiton of a Pro in the games of DotA.. to me the people they are calling a Pro is the gamefreaks who stay in front of their PC 24/7. A game experts we should call them, not Pro.
Professional Player in DotA is simply doesn`t exists. Proffesional means that u dedicate ur life into something, u make a living out of it, and of course that`s the only things u do best for urself.. Now that`s what i called a Proffesional Player in DotA....

A pro dota player imo is for example the guys who plays for SK gaming or any major organisation. Who actually makes money playing the game. And i think the same amount of training and talent etc requires for dota as for any game u want to play proffesionally. I see alot of people saying dota is a noskill game. And if u only care about micro sure maybe it is compared to wc3. Though wc3 is not a teamgame which dota is and it requires alot more team cordination then alot of games does imo.

The are no solo pro players. In my opinion there are only pro "teams". In such a team players try to harmonize with the other team players. There is basically no way you can win 1v5, when everyone wards and tries to gank constantly, so YOU actually dont need to be pro, you only need to have good teamwork. I've seen replays from no name teams beating known teams like MYM, SK, fnatic, Ks, R3D, mouz in fun/clanwars (fun/clanwars because they played to train). So a good accomplished team has it easier to win than a not well communcating team.
Adding to that, besides the teamplay, DotA is also a strategy game. You cant expect that a team takes heroes like riki, balanar, axe, sniper, dr and wins everygame. This lineup is acually easy to counter with mass ganks, warding and stun heroes. Whenever you play vs a team, you need to have a good tac that will work until late game and you also need to know what you can expect from your enemies, what for items they might go, for and many many other things.
My final conclusion:
You need Clan War experience but it also helps when you can farm good/gank/ward etc.

what you need is lots of experience.i can only recommened dota league with SIG (Single Instant Games)

if ya join public games you will have 1-9 leavers in a game so it doesnt really make sense!

What is basically "practice" ? I can ride the next 9 months on a bike but my soccer skills wont improve by that. But I practiced, didnt I?
Practicing is basically learning what is DotA and there are 2 ways:
Number1:
Read guides on the DotA-Allstars or any other bigger DotA forum, how to play, how to deny, how to ward, what skills builds for each heroes are used, what items for each hero to buy, watch pro replays and try to improve your gameplay by playing in leagues like SIG, DXDI, IICS or in clan wars. At the end you only collect experiences.
Number 2:
Get into an established clan who has allready the knowledge and they will practice you like in number 1, but you need to listen to them only and you get a hell lot of experiences and you skip the public part while playing DotA.
If you get to number 2 at the beginning of your DotA playing, you can assume you as really lucky guy coz this is basically impossible nowadays. But the way number 1 is the direction that 99% of all DotA players have to go to become good and have a slight knowledge of DotA.

Making a decent living off of DotA may never happen, but you can get really good at it if you play a lot. Believe it or not there are a lot of different ways dota can be played. Three types:
1) Pubs/TDAs
2) IHCS/DXDin/DotA Leagues
3) Scrims/Competitive games.
All have their unquie play styles, but also you need to have common skills in them to be good. They probably are last hitting/good farming sense, map awareness, and ability to gank and work as a team. And of course skills in one can help you with another, but I think these three categories have different in play styles. To be good in pubs, probably requires you to play carry well and able to farm a lot while working with your team. In leagues if your good at carry/ricing, and good with ganking heroes you can be successful. For scrims/competitive games, that is a whole different dimension since you need role players, and geling as a team. Good communication/attitude, and good role players who know how to play the game well makes a good team. But yea pick and choose what you want to do, and play to practice, and you might start to become good at the game.

Wc3 and DotA are TWO DIFFERENT GAMES!!!! THE ONLY THINGS THEY HAVE IN COMMON IS THAT THEY ARE PLAYED ON THE SAME PLATTFORM AND THAT THE HERO MODELS ARE BASICALLY THE SAME!!!!! I'm in touch in the Wc3, DotA and CS scene and I know every 3 games are really hard to master. I also know that all these games are completely different and I dont know how you can make a comparison between DotA and Wc3 o_O Your statement prooved that you got no clue about anything and that the real retard is only YOU. No selfbehaviour, you flame because you think no one knows you, you are sitting happily/safely behind your PC and you get a kiss by your mum before you go to bed...waaaaah!!! I hate kiddies!!!!

I've been playing for a few years now, and I dont think I've gotten to the level of extremely high play. It's not a game where everyone can be good at it with just a few games. To understand everything and execute it is pretty hard. There are always new things to learn in DotA as the versions are continuously changing, and teams are coming up with new strats. For exampling the banning of Visage now wasnt even considered early in 6.52e play. People just hate on DotA because it seems like a reletively easy game to get good at, and because it's a map mod from the WC3 engine. I just want to add this in closing, I have never won a game (scrims or league matches) against the top tiered team in my entire career playing DotA just to give you an idea of what the skill level is like in competitive play.

RodolpheSails :))) she's kinda cute say'n things about games played worldwide.No one say's that we lack newbe's but whit millions of fans and millions of players you can't asspect for all of them to be pro because w3(D.o.T.a) and C-Strike are both competitive games , winners win and loosers lose so i rest my case ---> and keep in mind "play hard go pro"
