Not a good game

Wow is a time-consuming game. It costs money. It takes your time to the most outrageous of amounts. Besides, it's very concrete and it just repeats itself over and over again.

I have played this game for 2 years and now I'm done because I realized I just played because I had to, so I didn't let my friends down. I finally said "You know what? I don't want to, so I won't."

Tell me, is wow really a good game?

Well, there are over 9mil accounts sold .. so I guess some people find it a good game :D

I play it for fun tho, for me, it is a highest satisfaction to kill some "idiots" in arena or bg. To be better than someone else. Basic instinct, you are always trying to be better than others :)

If you can't control yourself then everything you do is bad.

WoW doesn't require a lot of time anyways after TBC. Do dailys for 30 minutes per day and you can raid 5 times a week, piece of cake.

There's enough time inbetween where you can do whatever you want. Work out, school, etc.

The game is what you make it.

it's fun as long as you can play casual.. it gets boring fast and its time consuming when you play in one of the top guilds in the world. Since i'm in Nihilum myself for 2 years now but stopped raiding since TBC got released i can say the exact same words like you.. i'm glad that i quit raiding totally because it completely screws up your social life and what not ;) i kept playing to be the best and not let my friends down even when i noticed that i didnt want to do anything else even though i hated the game.. after a while i realised that in the real world everything is alot more fun then sitting behind your screen for 14 hours a day if not more just to farm or pve :P

Well i disagree, my guild raid 4 nights week for 3h night the majority have a work is married and in quite so cases have kids, we don't raid on weekends or fridays as we tend to get out or be with family/friends, ofc we are not the worlds best not even close but in two months of raiding we are knocking at Vashj/Kael door so you can enjoy the game and have a social life you just need to get your priorities right :)

N-Dac if u play in Nihilum u cant expect the game to be nothing less than the biggest part of ur life when there is content that u havent butcherd thrue already. They wanna be nr.1, they put the work in.

But wow is fun, as they said, as long as u keep it mellow, and actually do other stuff... its that simple

Planning is everything.

Ive been playing this game since release and pretty much raided 5-6 days/week the entire time(i never missed a single raid in Naxxramas). Anyway, my guild moved to another server due to a bad battlegroup and lack of good swedish players to recruit, so i rerolled on another server together with my IRL friends, who luckily enough also do play WoW >.<

One thing ive learned during all these years of playing wow is to use the time i play as effective as possible, i havent idled in i.e Orgrimmar since i rerolled, i'm always doing something, which cut my time playing in half. Now i do my 10 dailys and them me and my friends play around 20 arena games which by all means dont take much time, all in all this takes like an hour and a half and we usually clear karazhan once a week which takes us around 3 hours to do.

The bottomline is, you obviously don't have to raid 6 days a week to have fun with wow as i experienced, i actually have more fun playing now then i had when raiding 6 days a week. There is no one forcing you to play the whole time, invest as much time as it requires to have fun is the best advice. Never play because you feel you have too, instead play because you want too.

And honestly, it's the people you play with that makes the game fun and not the game itself.

Mostly the people who do play it love it and the people who don't hate it.

It's such a shame to see alot of my friends wasting their time in that digital world while they could actually be doing more productive or fun things. And ok it costs alot of money but if they didn't spend 12 euro a month on the game they'd be spending it on something else so that's not really that important.

I don't have any problems with people playing WoW, but I don't like this "whoever plays most, has most" concept that some people take just a little too serious. There are some extreme isolated cases that have led to the death of children due to negligence because the parents were playing WoW. I know that's a really small minority but I do feel like some people invest just a little too much time into it.

As to the creative aspect Blizzard is just genious. It's the typical MMORPG game with just that extra spunk and the graphics are nice as well. I think that's what makes it so compelling for these millions of people. Enjoy it, but know your limit...

World of Warcraft itself is a great game. It's very well developed, fun, immersive and most of all has very little loading time. You can start the game and actually start playing all within just about 10 seconds and despite the criticism, the fact that Blizzard has over 9 million accounts is enough to prove that the game doesn't suck. The only problem is people are irresponsible, often, and will end up playing it for hours on end without much control. They end up drained into the game and next thing they know, 4, 5 or even 6 hours flew by. That's not Blizzard's fault though.

Just because you sat there and spent your life on the game you got bored of it. Why didn't you just make it something to do in your spare time? It makes things a lot more fun and less repetative - if you play it all day every day it gets to become somewhat boring.

Great game, great fun - just dont OVER play it!

Take it from me, someone who has two characters (one full t6 the other char half t6) .. bt on farm.. almost done zul'aman.. I got 2 pieces of s3.. It's not really worth it.

The game just got boring.. there's nothing much to do.. I'm just waiting on WOTLK.. now you can just find me fucking around with friends in arena. It all seemed like a waste.. to get to this point really is considered "the end of the game".. World PvP gets boring, raiding indefinitely gets boring, Arena gets boring.. meh.. i've experienced everything I need to. Now I guess I can concentrate more on my studies ^^

It is indeed a nice game, its been said before and theres several evidences. But nobody can deny that it gets addicting after a while, if you wanna get better, then you have to put the time into it, some people get lost there. Trying to balance wow with everything else is the key imo, a bit too much of everything isn't good anyways. Try to spend 15 hours studying, running, watching movies... it's just not good.

I like it, though I am inactive atm I was hardcore the 1st year since it was released. Raiding in an endgame guild () takes time, but it was fun. Then I had to start working and it just didnt fit into my timeschedule anymore. It was fun when I was casual though, raiding when you had time, no pressure.

Ofc its a good game. Learn to dont waste all your time on it, if u do then u are fucked. And like 12euro/month? Its nothing. Just play like maybe 1-2h a day and u got loads of time to do other stuff, its all up to you if u want it to the that "loosing all your friends, addicted crack game" or a fun game to play with some friends a hour or two per day. o_O

It's easy to play a game for 1 to 2 hours, it's also easy to get addicted to it and extend the time you play because you're getting into it. Seriously, anyone who has played WoW doesn't take the game in moderation, if you do, you're seriously one patient person.. or you would probably be levelling your character.

People spend hours on WoW (if they're 70) because of the content they want to experience and the stuff they want to buy and the profit they want to make.. etc. etc. It's not a game you can play for 1hr - 2hr a day and be satisfied.

The real purpose of World of Warcraft is to have fun. Once the fun dissapears, you should stop or take a break or something.
The game only takes up as much time as you want it to.
Just.. Don't join a highend guild, if you only wanna go casual etc.

I mean.. play your 10 arena matches (that'll take like 1hour++) Do you daily quests if you need to (1hour++) and just.. do whatever feels good.
I can be satisfied easily with just that.

And the money issue? That's not even worth talking about. It's a sparetime thing and.. paying for that is like paying for participating in a sport or going to some knitting class or whatever.

I mean.. the issue of addiction is of course worth talking about.. i've been "addicted" myself, but it's not like it was hard for me to take a break from it.

Just make sure to maintain your real life. It's really not that hard imo.

From what i've read, it seems like ppl do things like a job.. They do 10 dailys 10 arena games and perhaps some bg, and say ; i use my time efficiently, i don't hang around OG or IF or whatever..
But u should play a game cuz it's fun, and imo doing 10 dailys and 10 arena games then logout isn't fun, but i bet some people think it's fun.
I use wow as a comunicating 'program', like msn. And i belive alot of people do, cuz they think it's fun to hang around in OG or IF and talk with people instead of 'farming' their ass of, just cuz it's time efficient.
I'm not saying that it's wrong, cuz it isn't. You can play the game ANY way u like to play it. But the bottom line is you should play it cuz it's fun, do things that you think is fun.
And i understand those guys or girls who are completly sunk into wow, i was there myself not long ago, playing atleast 10 hours aday.
Anyway wow is fun cuz u can play the game how u want to play it. If u chose to be hardcore it gets old after a while. If u are a casual player u get to try new things all the time and it doesn't get boring. It's all about how u chose to spend ur time in wow. If u want to do all of the things right away or if u wanna take it slow.
That's the main difference. People that do all the things they've 'dreamt' about get sick of the game, but are used to log in or addicted and all they do is pass time. And as i said i've been there, and i completly understand.
Way to long post and went over things that was totaly unnessacery and lots of spelling mistakes >_

Agreed up to a point, it depends on how u see it. If u know that ur gonna get addicted and u let it happen and then QQ about it without doing anything (seeking help, trying to quit on ur own etc.), that's a weak mind. But if u don't 'feel' the addiction comming it's alot harder to prevent the addiction. Cuz then u might not think u need help even if u do.

i haven't played wow but i'm gonna get it tommorow because i have few friends (not full time player nerds)who play them

don't blame the game and have some self control, "The game doesn't make you addicted, it is yourself that makes you addicted"

i decided to play 1-2 hour day while i study / exercise...people who are obsessed with online MMORPG's are losers in real world anyway..

Like it or don't, your decision. What comes to the monthly fee, I find it ridiculous bitching about it (approx. 13€/month), w/o being "all the time" sitting in front of your comp you would spend 10x more cash irl. :|
Ofc it's addicting, but there are still some "fun players" out there. You don't have to spend all your leisure time on it.

Sure it might repeat itself sometimes (kill x, collect y Qs), but which MMO wouldn't? There are still a lot content in it, end-game PvE, PvP in general etc. You are not forced to p(l)ay it. :)
