wow is very patch dependant,holy presence in raids its quite low right now(well in 2.43 im talking about) and prot paladins are really sweet and needed for same trash7bosses in hijal/sunwell,well also bt.
As in 3.0 right now retri pallis seem to be redicously cool so...(when they become ground nerfed holy would be the spec to go)

Saying what's best atm is useless. Wolk coming in a week and lvl 80 will change everything. Right now in 3.0.3 Holy and Ret are really close in power (both are really good and fun to play). Stating what is the 'best' spec for lvl 80 is pointless right now as everyone need to test shitload of setups and adapt to new big HP pools even more then to new talents. Most likely 1 spec will be a bit more powerful then another (imo Holy coz stuff like Sacred Cleansing can make the game (pretty much like Mace Stun)). Ask your question again in 2-3 month and you'll get a proper answer.
