Brut tank preference

I saw a recent parse for one of your brut kills and was wondering if the dual feral tank setup was your preferred setup or just one of convenience at the time? If it is your preferred can you go a little more in depth about why you prefer dual ferals over dual prot or a prot/feral setup?

Ferals have more armor thus they take steady damage instead of burst damage when you have bad luck on rng, like warriors sometimes do. The increased armor leads to less damage taken during stomps as well.

It's basically just to deal with the stomps then? Because outside of the stomp wouldn't the warrior's armor + defensive stance modifier + shield block actually put them at about equal damage reduction with the druid's raw armor and have a higher chance to flat out avoid the attacks on top of it? Then the defensive stance modifier also applying to the Meteor Slash for noticably more reduction to that attack as well? And it would also seem that the rng would favor the warrior since they have a higher avoidance rate but are still at approximately the same mitigation level as the druid.

"Now im the king of the swingers role, jungle vip
I've reached the top and had to stop thats whats bothering me."

When these lyrics were written the guy was thinking about a feral druid tank. When it comes to heavy hitting melee bosses its best to have a druid than a warrior due to there massive amounts of armour, HP and dodge chance of usually 45% upwards. In WoTLK they are getting a last stand talent as well so expect to see a lot more druids tanking bosses.

Warriors take less overall dmg on brutallus, but like Fenira said its about steady dmg and the fact that a stomped warrior relies way more on rng to stay alive than a druid does since a stomped druid has roughly the same armor a nonstomped warrior has

I haven't found either takes more overall damage than the other. Checking WWS for our last 8-10 Brutallus kills the overall damage taken by our Warrior tank is more or less equal to the Druid tank on every occasion. They are both equally geared and it is the same 2 tanks each time. Simply a warrior takes more spike damage but of course the overall avoidance and damage mitigation options even it out with our feral who takes less burst overall and is more manageable on a stomp.

The main reason i can imagine for taking Ferals is the buff they provide in addition to the manageability. We use a similar group setup with our 1 feral and our warrior sits is a group made for him. Our feral sits in a group with 2 BM hunters, a survival hunter and a resto shaman with imp Agi and Str totems, our warrior sits in a group full of holy pala's and a Resto shaman. Main reason we take a warrior on Brut is simply because min maxing is harsh enough in SWP as it is, no need ot make it worse ^^.

Why not use a prot paladin to tank him as well for huge increase in threat generation, there mitigation is about the same as a warrior but their threat they produce especially on demons is way faster and higher then any warrior or druid tank can manage to produce if played right.

If you have a Warrior or Druid tanking with a full rage bar threat isnt gonna be an issue. I dont think a Prot paladin is suitable for the fight to be perfectly honest. The mitigation and total avoidance is far from similar and would be a bitch to heal through. It can be done, dont get me wrong, but I would hardly count it as an 'ideal' tank.
