The easier the interface the better. The old one was already a perfect form and the new one should be based on that...
Also I'd prefer having the post # back

would be good but people can reply to specific comments now so how would you number it? #5a,5b,5c, 5c.2, 5c.3? :D

Just trying it out :)
But maybe the replies could be numbered #X\Y or so.
Would be logic to me anyway ;)
Also, since this reply isn't in the bottom, how will people know that there's a new post in the thread?
And who decides if a post is going to be censured or not?
Just by the vote? Not too sure if that's a good idea.

I guess the # thing just need getting used to, still I don't see how it'd hurt to get it back.
Also I'd say there's a need for some cleanup of the style. Compare the messages to the new interface, the interface or "wrapping" is taking up too big a proportion, let's put it this way, when you enter a thread the flashy stuff gets the focus instead of the contents when in fact it should be the other way around.
Another thing I don't get the point of is the mini-avatar, it's designed for squared avatars hence for most people's avatar it's gonna result in some white space which looks indecent. Also for 90% of the mini-avatars I only see a block of mixed colors rather than making out anything, so replacing the mini-avatar with # would be better.
The thumbs could use some improvements too ...
Anyways, there's a course in Computer Science called "User Interface", I have not taken that class nor am a pro here, but some flaws are rather obvious.
These are of course just my personal opinions for a better forum.

Getting rid of # and using proper threading/replies gets rid of the majority of quite pointless posts. I don't want to know or see comments like,
"#3,5,8,9,10 rock","#99,232,44 go die"
I want users to actually have opinions. The thumb system gives you the ability to voice and support other users comments while being lazy and not writing a comment yourself.
Irregardless of whatever system is used, you always have morons abusing and generally being sheep.

"while being lazy and not writing a comment yourself."
yes Im too lazy to click on "ShowComment" or "Thumb".and seeing things like "#99,232,44 go die" is sometimes funny (just the admins dont like it)
"Irregardless of whatever system is used, you always have morons abusing and generally being sheep."
so better keep the old forum then no more complaint,no more headache, agree??
btw imo some SK staffs abuse thumb function against negative opinion more than others do

it's good when you want users to have an opinion. very good. but when an opinion in a comment is hidden coz of the abuse of the thumbs, you have to choose what you prefer:
- a written opinion that everybody can read without any click or
- the non-written opinion of these cowards (i don't dare to disagree, so i thumb him down) and kids (hui, it's so funny to thumb everybody down.... the thread looks so great with all these hidden comments).

You're too lazy to click one button yet you gladly write a comment which has no actual information or insight? Congratulations on wasting my time with your quite useless ideas of what a website should be like.
If you're talking about immo mass thumbing people down, he generally does it for spam or retarded comments. This is much better than the old system, where we would just delete comments as we see fit.

what i dont like about the new site is:
1. picture thing looks stupid (remove it)
2. no #s, and reply thing means that u dont know what posts are actually new
3. thumbs system isn't the best of ideas... it can be abused too easily and it wont show the awesome old-skforum type posts ... maybe have a limit of 5 thumbs down before you hide a comment?
4. new site looks crap
just a few suggestions

When I come to a thread and see 70% (or more)of posts are hidden,I immediately feel boring(I dunno these post are crap or not cuz I'm tired of clickin'),so I just read #0 then leave.Believe me that function will make the users tired & bored
And as you say,the thumb system is very comfortable for admins to clean the forum. But that's so annoyin' & pointless for posters.
If you thumb down a post, other ppl will thumb it up,so what's the deal ? you'd better delete it ffs
Your idea mb good but sry that doesnt suit other ppl

oh, i am wasting your time? i am sorry, my lord. really. i will never do it again. keep on treating members like that... and nobody will be left to waste your time.
yes, mb i am lazy... too lazy to click on hidden comments... when most of them are hidden coz of the thumb abuse... when most of the hidden comments aren't useless or flames or anything like that.
but i don't want to waste your time anymore... gl and hf in beeing so ignorant...

Feel free to link even one thread with '70% (or more)of posts are hidden posts'. I'm a great believer in freedom of speech and don't see the need to delete posts, I'd rather users impose their own limitations and boundaries on one another, than myself or another admin. The thumb system will be changed slightly so it's more useful and less abused in the long run.

The very first forum thread when the new site was released is kinda off ground since everyone no matter how ridiculous, let their feelings known. Feel free to check my profile and see how thumbs I've given etc and you can do it for any of the admins, the vast majority of whine was replied to on many occasions by multiple admins to no avail. Thumbs were abused by all (in that thread)! ^^
