How to improve your skills?

I was wondering:how to become better player?
Some suggested that I should watch replays, some that I should practice a lot,but my problem is that I have no one to practice with, since W3 scene in Croatia is poor,so I cannot play vs anyone on LAN.
I played some matches online, and I can say that Im average player.
Should I play vs comp to develop my micro?Watch tons of replays or keep losing online till I improve myself?I would really appreciate Your advice...
P.S.sorry if my English is poor,I study law,not English language XD

Depends on what you are bad at.

If you have low APM you need to get used to switching between groups / objects very fast and keeping an eye on unit HP / abilities in battles. Macro is very easy to improve since you can just bind to building units.

If you are weak on strategy ie. you always lose to certain rushes etc you need to watch some replays to see how to beat these strats.
I would also recommend working on scouting the enemies early and frequenty so you can use the appropriate counters (mainly vs UD / HU).

There's a million things to improve in WC3.

It's quite similar to other "sports". You improve with repeating things again and again until you get better. You should watch your replays and be critical about your play, find mistakes and learn from them. Once you have a certain level of skill you can start training with partners who play races/strategies which you have problems to deal with. Personally I think that micro develops by itself just give it some time. You can play using battle.net or garena. Since I'm an average player too I hope others can bring in more ideas. glhf

when you lose vs something, watch the replay even if you thinking that this is the worst thing ever

Watch replays, but don't just copy what there doing try and understand what there doing and why, the moves there making, timing, hero choices etc.

Play random if you want to improve strategy wise.
Play orc regular combo agaist every race if you need improvement micro wise.

Go to Zeus' place.. tell him youll buy beer for the rest of the week and ask him to teach you. You'll learn MUCH faster than all the above methods.

Secret is in seeing the secret, and that can be shown by those whose eyes are opened.

Well duh.. You become a better player by playing, and teaching yourself habits and micro techniques and hotkeys and etc strats and so on and so on, until the point where it's all instinctive, almost subconscious, catch my drift?

It's easier said than done however.

i remember been in a similar position yo tou, i started watching heaps of grubby replays (since i was orc) and it improve my game alot. so whatever race you play just watch replays from the pros of those races, then find the weakness of the race

low apm doesnt mean that he isnt macroing/microing, and to the thread creator, take lessons from someone whos good and you'll learn alot that way and definetly faster than normally :I

play fucking elf, then you wont need to improve your skills.
+6 thumbs Thumb Down Thumb Up
1. play elf
2. replace your regular "A" button by a bigger one so you wont miss it even if you are having a seizure or an heart attack
3. remember to explain to everyone that nelf really does take a lot of skill to play and get all the story lines straight; e.a. you cant say "talons are not imba because lvl 3 shockwave owns them" to an undead its a line fed to orcs only

otherwise you have to practice practice practice practice and then practice some more to get better

watching replays of your respective race helps too

after a while take time off your main race and play other races until you understand them

thats all actually

I dont dare counting yours.
