Interview by replays.net
Grubby - Imagine if Moon and I can communicate well...
Replays.Net took the time to conduct an interview with MYM's Netherlands Orc MYM]Grubby where he discusses various topics, from in-game strategies to future real-life plans.
myMYM has translated the interview for our English readers.
Q: Hi, Grubby, how are you doing these days?
A: I'm fine, thank you.
Q: Can you tell us about your recent schedule?
A: After KODE5 Global Finals, I will participate in the ESWC Netherlands Grand Final on 7th June, and before that I may have about 4-week free time. For me, the qualifier will be little bit easy, so I will pay more attention on WC3L playoffs. I decided to have a rest for one week and then do some systemic training for 3 weeks. Unfortunately, I was ill during the first week so I had a longer rest and now I have begun practicing again.
Q: WC3L playoffs will be held in Changsha, what do you think of it?
A: In my opinion, to change the venue is the only option due to the earthquake. It's a good idea that the ESL administration has selected Changsha because there will also be many players participating in PGL which makes it more convenient. Aside from that, I don't know much about Changsha.
Q: Do you believe if MYM can take the title?
A: It's hard to predict. I'm not sure if we have a big chance to win because the other teams are also very strong and both the winner & runner-up of ROTK will take part in this competition, so it's not easy to take the title.
Q: Who do you think are the strongest players of each race?
A: Human - Storm; Nightelf - Moon; Undead - Lucifer, Susiria; Orc - Ciara.
If MYM players excluded: Human - Infi; Nightelf - Soju; Orc - Lyn/Like; Undead - TeD.
Q: Which race is the hardest for you to overcome? Why?
A: At the moment, I think NE is very hard. I have reviewed some games where I often lost to NE. I have focused on how to deal with human before, so I did not have much time to practice against NE.
Q: Nowadays most Orc players choose Blade Master rather than Farseer as first hero. What do you think of it?
A: On EI, it becomes very popular that many players buy BM circlets and claws because this makes BM much stronger, but this would not be possible on the FS. I think this is the main reason. Orc was a little bit weak but it's growing stronger.
Q: Talk about your teammates.
A: I like them very much although we have just met 2 times, which were at NGL-ONE and ROTK and I only played at ROTK. Since then, I have had a good feeling for my teammates. We talked about the strategies together which made us seem like a real team, so I am very looking forward to meeting them again at WC3L playoffs. Moon is very calm and humble; Susiria likes to joke around; Lucifer is friendly; although I haven't met EVE, but I think he is a good guy and a good player. They are all great players :)
Q: People used to talk a lot about you and Moon, but now both of you belong to the same team. How has the relationship been going along?
A: We haven't trained together, but we still win lots of matches and I think it's a good sign. I don't think we should over-exaggerate the results. I believe we are on the same level in terms of consciousness and we can improve a lot more if we practice. Usually we don't communicate a lot, but we still understand each other. Imagine if we can communicate well enough...
Q: What do you think of the gap between western and eastern players?
A: I think there are strong players both in east and west but most of them come from Korea and China.
Q: Do you think it's a good decision that both WC3L playoffs and WCG 2009 will be held in China?
A: I think it gets convenient for WC3L because I am the only non-asian player. For WCG, I have no idea so far although it's not bad to hold it in China but it will depend on the organisers.
Q: Have you ever thought about settling in China to train and attend some events?
A: Yes, I have. But there are some reasons for me to stay in Holland. I love my hometown and I also like the air there. Maybe I will come if there's an appropriate opportunity in the future.
Q: Do you have any plans for yourself? What you gonna do if you retire one day?
A: I have many plans for my future but nothing is for sure and I think something will be in front of me at some proper time.
Q: What's your target for this year since there will be several events coming up?
A: Win a million dollars. (kidding:))
Q: Say something to your Chinese fans.
A: Thanks for cheering for me :)
Q: Thanks for your time!
After that great interview do you guys still think Grubby is an overrated noob? I don't.

Good to see a Grubby interview but the questions weren't very in depth. In saying that though no one really does indepth WC3 interviews but some can do interesting ones.
You would think one of these days they would start asking questions about strategies and questions about the persons play style / strengths weaknesses or even simply about reason games / results.

@Sabian
I think that NL got 2 spots for the ESWC and there is noone else who can give him even a bit of a hard time so will he get first or second doesn`t really matter

haha tyson :D
And grubby said he is at the wc3l playoffs here. Doesn't make sense not to play PGL, unless he didn't get invited. Dreamhack is shortly after that but not at the same time. Maybe he didn't get invited. That's something to flame about, stewie. Your favorite esports source is lying.

@ttguy
I'll make an second comment to you btw, since this forum lacks of edit buttons.
Anyways; I'm going to use my freedom of speech to defend myself on your comment about me flaming you in your guestbook, even though I don't think it's such a wise thing to start a flamewar against a pathetic loser like yourself: I've probably written in your guestbook in one of your numerous accounts to answer to the hundreds of insults you've thrown in my direction.
It's not wise, but I'm the kind of person whom let random insults go unpunnished (mostly verbally), and I've always shown interest in answering back the total-biased shit you write in numerous forums etc. And in some way I enjoy argueing with you.
P.S You're an ugly motherfucker :))) (I've seen a picture of MLW, god it gave me a good laugh when I saw that snow-pale acne skin and that ugly blond-bleeched hair)

which part do you not understand.
If you say PGL > ESWC you must be out of your mind.
e-Sports World Cup is on par with World Cyber games.
In terms of fairness of rules, playing conditions, prestige, e-Sports World Cup wins hands down.
Good decision Grubby. DON"T GIVE UP ESWC for a Chinese event!!!!!!!
