Warcraft 3 latency

I just picked up Warcraft 3 again after not playing it for many years and I logged on and played a few games on B.net. During those games I experienced a pretty good amount of lag ~1 second delay for all actions. In my old situation this might have seemed normal but I'm on a campus connection now and my average ping in World of Warcraft is ~70ms.

Anyone have any idea why I'm getting this lag in WC3?

You're not elf, so Blizzard doesn't want you to win ;)

Seriously: no idea, which gateway are you playing on?

You really need to give more information. Where do you live and which server are you playing on? It is also important to know that BNet itself adds latency. It possible that the increased ping on bnet is to do with validation techniques, but it still adds a fair chunk of delay.
Just play on GGC if you really want a lowping game.

I have lag aswell and although my pingchecker says 100 ms this is impossible since I used to play bnet with 200-300 ping with my old internet. Its fucking spiking so at one moment ur delay is like 100 ms and after a moment its 300 ms

Umm I think he means spikes? Cause I have like 125 - 160 ping to Northrend now and it did rise but I've been getting crazy spikes and disconnection prompts a lot. It's just the server load is getting larger. But you certainly can have a spike for a second regardless of the time it takes you to contact the server, it also depends server side on the time it takes the server to query the data as well as proceed with a proper response.

Thanks for all of the replies, all I can tell you is that I live in Minnesota, and I've tried both the west coast and east coast portals and it's about the same on both. It's not a lag spike per se, it's more of a constant latency of ~1000ms (Or so I estimate, I don't remember how to check).

Lag is not delay. You can have a low ping and still lags. Delay is related with the ping. I play garena but my server would be europe and i experienced some lags there lately.

If you refer to Europe then yes. The reason why there is this amount of lag it's because nobody did any mantaince on it since the departure of Blizzard Europe (3 years at least). and it's on a old forgotten by world Telia server and I doubt Blizzard will do anything for it.

I know lag is not delay, two totally different things however they deal with a common problem factor. Delay and lag can either be latency / serverside. There are multiple factors to it, lately bnet has just been shit and they haven't even upgraded the servers in a while. I remember every tuesday for WoW they'd update it for more than 6 hours make sure everything was ok clean and all. I wish they did that with the what is it like 4 total bnet servers?

Actually it's not that bad atm, I clicked TP on a hero surrounded by ~40 orc pop when he had less than 50 HP and it actually worked.
Oh wait it was a DH...
