Very good post, I totally agree with you. It's not if they break human rights but if others don't do the same and we dont care for some reasons...

The difference is that in the western world people can and have criticized the actions of the usa, and as a direct consequence the next elected president is most likely not going to be a conservative. That is not to say that the next president will be any better but atleast there is hope.

On the other hand if your chinese and you criticize the government your most likely going to dissapear and/or be killed. Also china never has any elections so there is no way for the people to change the government without some sort of revolution. This allmost happend in 1989 but was stopped when the government send in the army wich basically slaughtered the protesters.

i get your point to 100%, but even in that you have missed some crucial information, yes, china does not have elections, and if you criticize the goverment you are going to dissapear or get killed, but what with USA? is it not tens of thousands muslims dissapearng and being brought to secret CIA prison/torture camps all over the world, without trial or any real accusations exept the possibility of being part of or helping the so called "terrorism"?

In China you can avoid getting in trouble if you just follow the law (even if it might be questionable how free or fair that law is) but the people dissapearing due to USA know in most cases not even what they are accused for.

And now i just want to add a small speculation point to this, there was one American president elected that clearly stood for peace and to let others be in peace, it was Kennedy and as far as i remember he got assasinated... some proof even tells that the CIA got him killed cause he did not serve their cause.... I dont say that that is true but im just adding another view to it.

And when everything comes around China was counted to one of the worlds poorest countries before the 80s, and in the last 28 years china has come to be one of the worlds most productive nations, the life standard increasing more than on any other country on this planet. Have anyone mentioned that? or is it just negative things we hear about China?

yes you have some points. But even if tens of thousands muslims dissapearng sounds rather exagerrated atleast we know about it because of freedom of press. If your a chinese in china you would never hear about people going missing, because the entire press is controlled by the government and everything gets censored including the internet (with the help of western companies like google and cisco, who are making millions from it)

And kenndy being peaceloving? He started the vietnam war so you could hardly call that a act of pacifism. Countries aren't good or bad because they are American or Chinese, the same type of people are living there with the same intentions. It is just that in a democracy the power is under greater public control.

And yes it is true that the living standards have improved a lot in China but this is ONLY true for the people living in the big cities. The billions of people living in rural area's have nothing. No healthcare, no free schools (wich they had during communism) and in general very bad living conditions and prospects. Basically the government doesn't give a fuck about them, because all the money is made in the big cities, they have become expendable.

So no the western world is not without it's faults, obviously. But I'll take it anyday over dictatorship.

@A4bit
The west world is still lying behind the most ruthless dictatorships in the world, Augusto Pinochet in Chile was put there by USA to secure their intrests there, Burmas Military leaders where also helped by USA to get to leading positions, Saddam Hussein was ironicaly enough named a leader by USA and got sponsored by the US goverment for serveal years and even in Greece the USA had a CIA agent as a dictator for 7 years to supress communism.

And thats just USA, i know that several other Nations have done the same, can´t name any specific cause my knowledge in that front is limited and i dont want to say something im not sure of.

The examples are endless, and while it is we in the democratic west world that feeds the dictators in the "east" we have nothing to say about human rights or condemn others guilty for things that we ourselves have started.

I dont have much more to say on the subject, i stop arguing when all i know in the subject is said, and now i think i have made my point on this subject clear and said what i know, people might draw own conclusions on this, i hope that i might have given a wider perspective to some.

Thank you NooKe for bringing forth logical points of argue unlike some other people on this thread.

thats all for me, thank you.

np, wish there were more people like you on this forum. And I agree with a lot of what you said. The (western) world is filled with hypocrisy.
