Depends.. Sometimes I can't listen to music as it distracts too much and you might as well miss some sounds that could have helped you... but I have noticed that I could play quite well with Linkin Park (first ablum), as it keeps you going fast(er), even if nothing happens at the moment in your game.

Music indeed distracts but it also makes the game more fun and not so obligated. Thats why i like to listen house music. Its all about house music :) It makes you pumped up and sometimes i find myself hitting the keys on the keyboard with the same rhythm as the music. Its entertaining.
