Here is my newb perspective, what do other people reckon?
- (2)MeltingValley
Easy quick expo options for Humant that arent toooo close. Creep sets are quite weak meaning you can creep almost anywhere early on. A good mixture of choke spots and open areas.
I think this map will be quite good
- (2)RoadToStratholme
Good creep sets and base is easily defensible. Expo spots have fairly heavy defense and are quite far away which hurts Human
BAD for human, good for ORC.
- (4)CentaurGrove
Bad map for human. Base defense looks quite hard and although they do have a fairly good quick expo spot but its in a bad position much like TR.
It appears to be a good ORC map with lots of open areas, hard to defend bases. Creep sets are quite balanced with a strong fountain.
- (4)TidewaterGlade
Another Turtle rock? Spawn points can be ridiculously close much like TR although if far spawn HU can quick expo. You can set up very good base defense. Not many good creeping spots early game.
Bad for ORC, good for HU

Isn't TidewaterGlade considered to be a 2on2 map and not 1on1?
+2 thumbs

Possibly but any new map can be played 1 v1 and we need many more.

What makes a good UD map? choke points?
+2 thumbs

- Easy map control (not too big)
- Various small creeps spots to be done without DK
- good base structure that enables gold mine walling
- No health fountain
- No gold mines too easy too creep.
That makes, I think, a good UD map.
Also:
- Island expo with Air creeps such as Dragon Lvl 7
- Blight land on expo (automatically ! so you can zig up quickly, or zig attack a human fe :D)
- Mana Fountains
- Open expo placement, weak to air hit & run for gargoyles.
The 4 last proposals might make these maps slightly imbalance. But we need to win some times, don't we ?

Centaur Grove-I liked Centaur in the Beta version when it had the Lorderon Summer tileset, cuz the barrens one looks ugly. Overall it's a good alternative to LT, and no more big struggles for control of the one fountain for there are 2 HP fountains on the map. Humans can't expo like on LT. Overall a good 2v2 map BIG open spaces for big battles, would'nt want to use this as solo map...
Tidewater Glade-Umm yeah this is definently a pure 2v2 map, with the spawn points being so close and very little creep camps between the two. If this was used for solo, it would be like TR minus orc sucking on it because a lone BM can take the easy creeps/items quick like on TS/LT. Overall i think this is an excellent 2's map for teams and would like to see it in WC3L mappool soon.
Melting Valley-I really doubt this would be considered as a standard solo map. It's like a lot of useless blizzard maps where it's too big and camps are tough. Humans suffer the most for the mines and far and hard to creep. Orcs would have the easiest time here and maybe UD if they can go pure fiends, which they only can do vs orc... making ud useless on this map except vs orc.
Road to Stratholme-Out of all the maps this is the best overall and definently a keeper in my eyes. Unfortunetly this map leans heavyily in orcs favour as the item shops have medium armored creeps guarding that are exremely weak. The mines are also heavily medium armor creeps which will mean easy creep/expo for orc while humans will have a tough time with expoing overall. Basically a mini TS minus humans can't expo, but UD ghoul users can, like orcs, creep well. I found this map to be suprising anti-NE. Most of the creep camps are covered by terrain making it impossible for NE's to AOW creep.

2on2 maps aren't viable for solo imo. The 1on1 maps look far superior to the crappy maps in ladder and lt at least, but that doesn't say much. Only played them once vs the computer.

Melting valley and Centaur Grove are the only good maps, although a little to good for human with both maps having 2 fast expo possibilitys. The Road to Stratholme one will be really boring with mass creeping, with the players spawning pretty far away from eachother and there's many easy creeps. Absolutely no fast expo chance for human. Tidewater Glad sucks

where can i dl them?
+0 thumbs

well, i haven't tried the new beta-patcch with the new maps yet.
but so far the opinion are that most of the maps favors Orc a bit?
perhaps instead of buffing any orc-units, blizzard just decided to make more pro-orc-maps^^

NEW MAPS, where can I download them?

Do these maps show up in the replay folder once you have patched up? Can you please copy those .w3x files and post them up somewhere for other people to try it without patching??
That would be really awesome if someone could do that.
