Because I have recently upgraded my pc and my new motherboard has only 1 ATA slot (for CD rom) and 2 SATA. I dont have where to plug my 2 HDD's in which are on ATA system.

I need a way to play wc3 without CD until i figure out a solution to connect my old ATA HDD in.
Does anyone knows a way?

war3.replays.net usually has a nocd, it's kinda slow to download tho

I have dled that one but it installed something which has little connection with the thing I was after in fact.The fact it's in chinese doesnt help either =/

use mini cd image

hmmm I never used mini cd image since I've always played war3 with a cd. any guides to how to do it and what software to dl for it?

u download dameon tools from here:

After this, u load the image in daemon-tools.

y, a mini image + daemon tools is the best! + it's useful for other games too!

I never use these mount tools.Seem like you dont know to use the noCD crack.

1.21 NoCD Crack from RN work fine for me.Just install the game,upgrade to 1.21,then replace the original "war3.exe" with the one in the rar file downloaded.Note that using this method,evrytime when a patch come out,you'll need to download a new version of NoCD Crack as well.

Btw I have a solution for your ATA HDD:you need a "HDD box",which costs around $10.Insert your HDD into that box and plug the box to PC using USB cable(sometimes IEEE1394 cable).Then your old HDD is recognized as an USB removeable drive.
But there's no way to use that old HDD as a real HDD again,except that you buy a new DVD Drive using SATA cable,thus the only ATA slot will be left free

yes Thats the same solution I was thinking of too but due the fact im pretty busy these days i didnt found the time to go and shop for one.

also thanks for the sugestion with DVD on SATA system. I didnt knew they made those, only knew about the HDD ones and i did plan to buy a dvd RW since my current one is only a CD RW.

Using crack is a painful process when patching, coz the patch will refuse to run unless you use original war3.exe. After you use original war3.exe and finish the patch, then you have to again wait for a new crack (which takes about 2 days generally) to play on b.net. Mini image solves all that. Once you load the warcraft miniimage you dont have to worry about cracking every time. This is especially useful if you use a program like Ever-craft to frequently switch versions.(I use it a lot to watch old replays).

In short. MiniImage >>>>>>>> Crack.

When u use crack u can`t log on bnet.Blizzard made that like 1.5 years ago

Scotteee, he sayd that blizzard made something that make u unable to join bnet.. D2 is same as wc3.. ..doh..

I did all that since scottee linked me (first link is bad but i knew what prog to get ;) ) and second had some wc3 images but im too stupid to figure out how to make use of them. I gotta read the daemon tool manual haha.

Left click on the daemon tools icon next to the clock on the bottom right corner.
Device 0: bal-bla, u browse and select the .mds image. After this, u can start war3 with the icon.

War3 is the only game I have played consistent in the last 5 (going on 6 now) years. I so i didnt had the annoyance to always have to switch the CD's or whatever might be the case.. so never worked myself out, over it.

as far as i can remember blizzard provides you a new copy of the warcraft cd if you can provide a legit cd key. blizzard is quite generous when it comes to customer support, so calling the blizzard support always is a good idea.

yeah, if you are in usa it's worth a try but otherwise i think the postage fees for the pack would worth more than buying a new cd all together :p

european support does the same, i see no reason why, if germans have that option, you shouldn't.

my cd's are okay :), kind of scratched but still okay ^^.

vbadgirl, here is what i found at blizzard europe's english support website. it says to try to replace the damaged cds at the place of purchase. if that doesn't work they offer you to get in touch with them via the webform.

please notice this is 8 months old. patch 1.22 doesn't require a CD anymore
