The thumbs problem
I guess the purpose of these is to prevent spam comments from interfering the discussions, but so far people are using it wrong-
take for example the discussion with grubby and Eric (was pretty damm stupid imo but nm...)
obviously most of the people on this forum supported grubby, so every comment in favor of grubby got many thumbs up (which is fine).
problem is the other side of the debate - which is crucial for making a real discussion, where always getting thumbs down (no matter what they said) so they were hidden...
now what it made me do when I've read it is to especially read all the comments with many thumbs down, some of them were the most relevant ones for the discussion, but most of them were just spam :(
so anyway i thought it would be nice to also have a SAPM button so all spams would be hidden, and with the thumbs you could show if you agree or disagree with a comment.
what do you think?

I really dont think its a thumb problem but a person problem. I believe it is just one person doing all those thumbs downs so maybe impliment a system where you cannot have more thumb downs than thumbs up for eg;
If you have given six thumb downs you must give at least four thumbs up before being able to give any more thumb downs. However if you ask me I really dont think the thumbs up/down idea was really that great an idea to be implimented in the first place as SK-Gaming.com isnt exactly the smartest community around.

it's ok, it shows to whom people are sympathetic
not really, there's people who don't give a damn and don't thumb at all and then there's disco-MLW & friends™
i just hate the whole idea of automatically hiding unpopular posts, this pretty much ruins the forums for me.
it would be nice if you could set in your profile wether you want to hide unpopular posts, and if yes, probably also the required number of negative thumbs.
that way everybody could do it the way he wants and i dont think it would be very complicated to implement.

so thats what im saying - thumbed down unpopular posts should not be hidded at all.
only spam would be hidden...

thumbs down for the tumbs idea...some users at sk-gaming didnt grov up for this kind of things.
u cant say a damn bad word about anything coz u get a thumb down.
ur enlish is not that good = thumbs down
just say GL,GJ, GG and automaticly ppl award u with thumbs up - thats so stupid.

Yeah the thumbs up/down system definitely has too many flaws to make it worthwhile. I assume they plan to update it so hopefully when the full version of the site is released it will work better. But having to click on the show comment a dozen times a thread gets pretty annoying, make a button in the thread to show all thumbed down comments, or an option in your profile to allow all posts to be viewed.
I feel like since the new forums have been released the forums have kind of been dead. In the old site there were many more posts and threads a day, and while many of them may have been pointless rants or just arguments between fanboys it was still fun to read. Because nothing in the forums have really changed except for the new thumb up/down feature, I feel it must have something to do with that.
