new forums are cool !

I liked the old one more, but maybe I just have to get used to it.

The new look is very bad imo. The thumbs up and down thing is cool, but everything else just sucks.

SK-gaming took two steps back with beta 4.0.

Is there a bug with the site? When I click on Show Reply for a post which is hidden, it automatically takes me to the "Reply" page. And when I click on the "Reply" link it takes me to "Create new thread" page. Am I the only one with these problems?

might be that the site bugs in ur browser.. works fine in FireFox though.

Also I work as a Design analyst in my company's User experience team, so I would like to offer a couple of suggestions because the site is still in beta.

1) One of the things I've always loved about SK is the quick links to the threads on the right side.(Something that generic forums dont have). Its great to see that you have carried it forward from the old forums. But one aspect I dont like is, when the thread is fairly long, you keep scrolling to the bottom to read the posts and when you reach the end, if you want to jump to a new thread you have to scroll all the way up. Also when you scroll down the space on the right side is filled with empty white space which cane be utilised effectively.

If you could make the "Latest threads" section be stationary on the right side when you scroll to the bottom , I wouldnt have to scroll all the way back up in order to jump to a new thread, and that way you wouldnt have empty white spaces on the right too.

2) The thumbs and the new cool blue theme totally rocks :)... but hiding the posts is kinda irritating. You need to set a threshold limit like say 5 or 10 thumbs down after which the post will be hidden. Just 2 thumbs down to hide the post is a bit too less, and leads to random thumbs down from trolls causing irritation to the rest of the users. Also I dont know if it exists, but you should set a limit for the number of thumbs that the user can give per day. (Maybe 10 per user per day). This could increase as the user's level goes up.

the thumb down system would work if the majority of the users here shared your way of thinking, as they're not all the posts you are considering "informative" might get ignored in opposition to the funny troll posts.

funny thing is, then you choose warcraft3 as a game, there is POPULAR WC3 THREADS TODAY, witch contains threads like "Best usp player", "best software to make cs movies", "Insider Servers?" and so on, even though there no threads in warcraft3 forums :). Fix this please.

i don't actually think people will thumb down/up informative or good posts like you intended with this system.. i see people thumbing down posts because they don't agree with their opinion.. for example: anti-grubby/mym fanboyism posts

why dont u just do it the good ol' way.. let people say whatever they want... and let admins remove bad posts..

or let people thumb up GOOD posts only. that way theres still funny posts and people can still choose to read what they want to read

So far I must admit that I'm impressed by the thumb system.
Nearly all disco/MLW posts are hidden away from sight, and you can at a glance single out the best posts in a thread if you can't be bothered reading it all :)

thumb up for this, _evan ;) some ppl rate too subjektive (i don't like xxx, so thumbs down) or abuse this system... so the keynote is destroyed without ever having a chance :(
