Activision Blizzard ruining battle.net

two interesting forum post about the developement of ScII and especially battle.net 2.0

I'd just take the oppertunity to rally what's left in the WC3 community and say that this should be something to unite us. If Blizzard now fails on the most regular basis in battle.net 2.0 then we can (hopefully) still be able to play on bnet 1.0 and garena and enjoy wc3 as a memory of the old "not-only-profit-but-also-enjoyment-for-the-fans" kind of Blizzard.

R.I.P Blizzard

Saw this stuff last night and i agree with most of what the TL guys are saying. But the part i don't really get is chatrooms. What's the big deal, in this day and age? Chatrooms on battle.net 1.0 are just godawful spam-fests. If you wanna chat to people go on skype/vent/even pm's.

But that said, the rest of their points are valid. Lack of LAN and the international cut-off are absolutely ridiculous and the way in which Frank Pearce practically ignored those issues was depressing. It feels more and more like Blizzard are getting complacent about how popular their games are.

HuskyStarcraft summerize it pretty good.(I agree fully with him) Check out 6:55 and forward to answer your question

Yeah, the chatrooms rly seem unnecessary, especially cuz u'll get some sort of grp chat for clans/team. Just read both articles, everything's clear to me now.
I'd just like to point out a few interesting quotes:
''Most of the 20 years, that I have provided for growth at Activision, we were content to make products that are attractive to the 16-35 year old guy who has gotten no date for Saturday night.''
...and the best of the best:
''The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games''.

What kind of a person even thinks such a thing? This world is beyond salvation
