Who killed Warcraft 3?

Blademaster or SC2?

Which country killed over 3 million people worldwide just for the fun of it? - Yours, asshole.

And on topic - WC3 still lives and just because you don't play it doesn't mean others don't as well. So pull your head out of your ass and stop being such a douchebag

blizzard, they made both. And you can add hack.

Yes, WhO did.

WoW Blademaster and SC2

and DOTA

The time

Mainly WoW, since it distracted Blizzard to the gentle extent of not caring for Wc3 whatsoever. Hacks and BM-craft are all results of this ignorance

What is the matter with you? The man asked a simple question and you're calling him a douche...jeez

Anywho, it's a very strong combo of time,BM,SCII, and WoW that's gonna be the end of WC3

For my money it's Blizzard. They simply moved on to other things and left WC3 to die. Can you really blame them? I dunno. It's still sad anyway.

Yes we can, because I bet they've got enough employees to move their butts and to do something about one stupid patch.I agree that the only aim of a company is to earn money, but every source of money is good and wc3 was one of it, besides they acted just like bunch of jerks

The matter with me is that more and more people are rubbing it into others' noses that WC3 is dead. Well it may be dead for them but not to others so they should probably keep their opinions to themselves.

WoW is a top seller and the most played online game evaRrr
but Blizzard also focused on SC2 and Diablo3... seriously Diablo3 and not Warcraft 4? Warcraft and Starcraft are unreplaceable games but Diablo isn't a game played on tournaments T_T

Personally,I would have loved WC4, but putting out SCII and WC4 at the same time doesn't make any sense for several reasons. First of all, SCII is supposed to attract SC/WC3 players as well as newcomers, and if WC4 came out around the same time, they'd just be dividing the number of buyers between the two. Second, they are the same genre. They would probably end up having the same flaws and be too similar. I'm not being very clear here, but the bottom line is that if the two come out at the same time:1) less money for blizzard
2) worse gaming experience for us

As for Diablo...even though it's not an e-sports game, it has a humongous fanbase around the world. Definitly gonna be yet another platinum edition for blizz
If WC4 is ever gonna cme out, don't expect it for another couple of years.

not so much imo... wc3 isnt dead or wouldnt be dead IF

the scene would be a lot more mature... take the german players for example, xlord wins a shitload of money since years with this game. still, ive never read an xlord iview in whom he says that he likes or enjoys the game... practically every german epsplayer (except maybe miou) tells in iviews how bored he is, how unmotivated, how annoyed he is by wc3, since the eps started... thats prolly not a wc3-problem, but a lack of maturation widespread in western people, finally admitting that a pc-game can be fun. i hardly heard of koreans sounding that demotivated, even UD-koreans showed fighting spirit, who seemed quite lost in tft... regardless of the skill lvl, i mean tod played at the top, he won loads of money, and how much did he gave back (to fans and the game itself)..? not appearing, unmotivated 3 mins games? what does he do now, he prolly flips burgers at mcdonalds for 5/10.

when sc2 was announced, lesser skilled players feeled confirmed, "look i give a shit, ill play sc2 anyway"... others sucked in wc3 and switched to poker or wow.
cant wait for epssc2, where it will be like in the second season "zomg so bored, my last season" -.-

Sorry, i might have been a little unclear. I don't think WC3 is dead yet as an esports game or as a community - not by any means. But it's dead to Blizzard, which is even more of a shame when you think that it's really so close to being balanced. One sensible BM nerf and a couple of minor changes (new map pool for ladder plz!) would breathe new life into the game.

You all have good points and i'll also add something : those fucking chinese invite tournaments in 2007-2008, every month it was the same tournament with the same map pool featuring the very same players. Fucking boring and not productive at all. Why would a new comer try his best if he knows that mere players like sase will get the invitation anyway ? Furthermore, all that money injected in the pro scene made the players extremly greedy, they started to ask for insane salaries (hi MYM, 4K, WE.KR) and we all know how it ended up : organizations closing their wc3 section and teamleagues losing prestige. Fuck it, the wc3l play-off was BY FAR my favourite wc3 event. 4K vs MYM vs SK vs WE.KR+Sky was a must-see, sick players, a lot of hype, retarded managers talking mad shit prior the game :D and some insane teamspirt that do not exist anymore. Now it's just a league "they have to play", only a shadow of what it once was. It feels empty and dull.

blizzard just ...

this "newcomer"-thing is a bit overrated though. first imagine a tour withoug moon, sky, grubby etc. who would watch it? prolly not as many, or not even the half of wc3-fans. second, imagine a tour mixed, moon with a bunch of newcomers. who would watch it? prolly more than a total newbie-tour, but with a predictable ending... wc3 in 07 was insane, the amount of money spread out was just crazy. i was ok with a great tour every two weeks, you could follow how progamers adapt their strategys from event to event... the problem was, that the esports market wasnt able to deal with that situation... person on top of clans who arent even able to manage their pocket money... so much money, but so less know how... regroup joining mym was just the top of the cake. salaries went sky-high, if a team like mtw wanted to keep up with a team like mym, they had to make promises to their players that they couldnt keep up in the longterm... that just killed the enjoyable wc3l. but thats prolly a problem, things in life have that grow so fast - so big, they finally fall as hard. just look how dubai is doing atm.

what is killing wc3 is all the threads wc3 is dead

that too

One thing i nv really hear ppl talk about because they are too busy complaing about blademaster is why it plays out that way.

Hint: Healing salve is overpowered and way too good. Imagine if orc dun have that hmmmm

Orcs wouldn't be able to last more than 5-6 mins against any other race

I certainly don't mean that healing salve should be removed with no form of compensation. The healing/charges and the cost of it are simply too good and is hands down the best compared to every other races. 100 gold giving the blademaster 3x life bars is what is causing the issue with them constantly harressing or simply nub their way chasing the oppoents hero because they know the other race have no other way to heal back up effectively.

Its no coincidence why UD have so much trouble vs them (They have no way to heal up until statues lol blight is far from viable)

100 gold for 3x mini rejuv is simply bullshit and favors the meta game in war3 that is heroes.. Human players 100 gold can only heal back for like 200ish for a time although its aoe.

Swap healing salve for the same heal scrolls as human or like rebalance the heal/gold cost/charges on healing salve and surprise!!!! the blademaster doesn't seem that imbalance anymore

True, it's difficult to lay a finger on which Orc ability makes them imbalanced. Salves, windwalk, crits, hex, healing wave., ensnare, spirit link, disenchant, pillage...
But nerfing salves is out of question. Salves can be a strength, but they can also be a weakness during a decent push. What needs nerfing is Windwalk most of all, it's the item stealing, unit killing, shoplifting maphack that leads to the stacked Blademaster in the first place. Nerfing critical strikes or their connection to items would be the next step. Anything else would be too much, and would affect non-blademaster strategies.

Well, you cant say that it was BM.During different periods of time, there were different shits that were ruining the fun of the game - destroyers,DH, now BM,etc.

The fucking Blizzard niggaz just let wc3 die, which was rather inapprehensible for me.Wc3 was a chance to get gaming on a real professional level - at it's golden age the game was more than decently popular in Europe and China/Korea - investing in tournaments, leagues, trying to get media's attention and attact more sponsors, etc.Instead, they just got themselves lurred by the chance to earn really a lot of money - LoL, but keep gaming on the nothing-but-a-waste-of-time level. We, the gaming society, might call the competitve gaming "esports", but for the ordinary man on the street, Wc3,LoL,SC are nothing, but strange abbreviations.

The good thing is that Blizzard is losing its monopoly on the gaming market. There are uprsing a lot of new companies who might want to make gaming a real sport. The majority of the Blizzard's crew, who designed SC,Diablo,WC3 left this shitty company.Looking forward for the day I read on sk-gaming "Blizzard closes doors due to financial problems".

Well...Don't expect that to happen any time soon.

Windwalk in fine. You can't rly restore unit collision, the bonus backstab dmg is not that bad too... The only thing I'd nerf is the speed bonus. That's just too much
Anyway,WW nerf or not, the ability that most obviously needs to be altered is crit.I don't think it needs an explenation.

newcomer doesnt mean complete noobs who learned the game at the airport waiting for the plane (like most patchorcs). Instead of having the same 8 players every time, i'd rather see 4 of them getting an invitation and the rest having to go through a qualifier. Basically, the most deserving and motivated players attend. I mean seeing Sase being the 2nd option for NE instead of players like Soju, Creo or Soccer was rather sad -_-
