So, how should I begin?
Maybe I should start by introducing myself.
So, here I am. I'm a 17year old "chap" from Belgium, land of chocolate and beer. Mostly beer. My gaming career started when I saw my dad playing Wolfenstein.Good ol' times ! Actually , you can't really call that a career, can you? It was only until a friend of mine showed me the game Counter-Strike 1.6 that the words "career" and "e-sports" came popping up in my head. I started playing the game and I soon realised I sucked at it. So I started focussing on following the scene. Defusekids was my biggest example. You probably don't know them , since they are a belgian team, and they have a history of quiting and forming new line-ups. You are probably wondering why I am writing this? OK, I'll just stop the chit-chat and speak up.
This is the moment that I want to become part of the scene. Yet, I don't want to become a player. I want to work with a team. Like proof-reading or newswriting. (I prefer proofreading because I'm not active enough to write news.)I do realise that my english is not perfect, it's just that I want to study something with English when I graduate , so why not practise it now, combining it with a hobby?
You are probably still wondering why I am doing this? OK, to be completely honest, my knowledge of the scene atm sucks ! And since I want to become part of the scene, and not work for a secondhand team that will quit after 2 months, I thought this is a good way to find myself a team/organisation. I don't really care which country the team/organisation comes from , I just don't want it to be from Belgium/the Netherlands? Why , you might ask? Belgium has almost no scene and the dutch one is a flaming bunch of *****.
So guys, be friendly and help a lad out .
Greetings,
BartDe Wilde

Wow, thats really sad. Maybe its time to enter the real world... You know, the place you look at trough your window?
standard flame dude, you should try harder ;)
didnt read the whole thing, but:
"Belgium, land of chocolate and beer"
land of chocolate: Switzerland
land of beer: Germany, Austria, Czechia
PS: get a life

Actually Belgium is quite famous for their beer internationally. Nice try on the flaming. And oh yeah, the make excellent chocolate too. Maybe if you tried reading books and articles instead of flaming you could have a better culture.
so all of a sudden Belgium wipes Germany off the map and becomes THE ultimate land of beer? oktoberfest hello?
Czech beer is probably on the same level with German, also it goes deep into history.
Swedish beer has a long history as well, and Swedish beer is known for its quality and rightfully so.
Belgian beer doesnt even come close to top5 tbh.
and SwaT, you dont even drink beer! how can you decide on these things?!

only german and czech (maybe slovak) beer can pwn, not belgian pff :D
Thats the only thing you can say, about flaming? Thats something I did aswell when i was 12 and afraid for flames and the big world. Dont blame us for trying to help you, now plz leave the site and never return.
Wetteren...enough said.
Anyway, you can try contacting coverage sites such as aAa, sogamed, SK, .... and hope they need proofreaders. Posting a thread here isn't going to help you one bit as you clearly see.

what should I say about it?
problem is that I am happy with my "real life".
Sorry I dont flame you , because you flamed me.But hey, look at the bright side, atleast you're not a 26year old nerd who tries to flame some1.

Secretly I was just wondering how people were gonna react on my 'blog'

So many flamers/haters, reminds me of WarriorBro. :) Anyways, I'm here to help or try to answer in a helpful way. As a past news writer on SK and various other websites, I must tell you that if your knowledge of the scene is almost equal or equal to nothing, you'll probably never find the serious team/organisation you're looking for. Today, I'd say you need to have a global overview of a bunch of various scenes (Counter-Strike, Warcraft 3, etc), especially if you want to proof-read. Like Nightfoal said, the best thing you can do is look around and get active in the scene as much as you can, there's a lot of catching up to do but it won't take you long if you're really determined. :)
Read and think before you react... We didnt flame you, we tried to help you but clearly you are lost already.
But no thanx at all, Bart -"old lad", "chap", "beerdrinker", "i want to be a part of the scene"- De Wilde. :)

Wait a minute. Sjoerdtje, did you get "begrijpend lezen" when you were in primary school?
don't really see how a post like "Wow, thats really sad. Maybe its time to enter the real world... You know, the place you look at trough your window?" is gonna help me. Atleast ewufs and nightfoal are people who are trying to help. But whatever Sjoerd, als ge ooit is naar België komt, t'eerste rondje is voor mij.

mmm try get some experience first before applying directly with a big team. We've all had to go through it. I actually created by myself a gaming magazine (which I sold off long ago) before applying for big teams. They're not just gonna take "you're word for it" that you're good. Just contact the potential person that is going to employ you because they'll never bother having a look at this thread or at your profile when they are looking for people. I agree that the Belgian scene isnt exactly the most exiting but working for it might or will open new doors.
working for one of the biggest (read : the biggest) now ;D
scene at the moment in the UK atleast is pretty dead but it's not just 1.6 it's css aswell. Just miss the good old days of 1.3/1.5 see i miss about 1.4 which was awful when everyone just had a laugh and there was no annoying immature little kid's playing the game. I have nothing against younger people everyone has to be young at one point but :S
