How the hell do I turn them off? I don't want comments to be hidden because of these stupid things. How do I make it so it just ignores the thumbs?

The abuse on the Thumb down was quite predictable here :)

i think this thumb system must be desactived or simply removed because it's sucks :P

imho its quite useful as you cant write just any shit if you want to be renowned as a normal member of this community.

In most threads it will be like:

1 normal comment
34 spam/bullshit/flame
1 normal comment
...

Yeh usually you have a "budget" of ratings to give each day. So that is something that should be added to stop abuse.

People with a very bad rating shouldnt be able to rate posts themselves.

I believe in that. You need like a system to make sure people don't overuse the function, like a maximum of 10 ups and downs.

then we are talking about "positive thumbs" overusing... let's make it 1:1 and hide coments after -3 or so

Agree with many here. Spam messages can be - thumb, but there are also people that give a - thumb because they like to do that. So there have to be rules. Again it's based on opinion. And there's a big difference between a SPAM message and another thought. If one person makes a good comment, but like two don't agree with it and they give negative thumbs, it's -2 thumbs and it won't be shown while it isn't a spam comment. That's why I think the comment should be shown even if it has negative thumbs.
And more important, I would like to know WHY people give negative thumbs. A bit useless if nobody tells you why they gave you a - thumb, because you can't change your comments if you don't know what you're doing wrong (if you are). If you - thumb someone don't be a chicken and tell why you did that (unless it just SPAM ofcourse :).

Because there are people that like to give negative thumbs to everyone. And right now comments with a negative amount of thumbs aren't shown.
