Korean websites have written quite a bit about the MBC Map Scandal. SteveFIS has translated some of these posts to shed some more light on the situation. He has made a short summary of DayFly's original post, then a statement from the map modifier Jae-Young Jang and finally the official MBC statement.
Summary of DayFly [Frienz]'s Post
In the beginning part of the post, DayFly explains to the Korean fans why he was coaching the Chinese players. He stated in the post that he was worried about Chinese players would be frustrated in an unfamiliar condition and wanted to teach them about the way of how Korean players usually train themselves for such kind of league. Of course, he hasn't played the game for about a half of year, so he couldn't actually help about the content of the game, but gave them advice about the way of practicing as much as he could.
Anyway, he states that the main reason of writing the post was not about the Chinese players, but about revealing the unfairness going on in the MBC Prime League.
He started to get suspicious about the Prime League Maps when Spirit_Moon watched the VOD of the semi-final match between ReX.Romeo and Freedom.Werra. He was watching it with Spirit_Moon and Spirit_Moon was continually saying that 'Orc is imba', 'Look! Look! The units are not losing much hit points!', 'Sagi, Sagi (means imba in Korean'. Dayfly also felt that the Orc was strangely strong in the VOD. Spirit_Moon had probably thought that the Orc was basically strong in the game, but DayFly suspected that the map was modified for some reason. This reminded him of the Ghoul Frenzy Bug incident in Prime League.
A few days later, he had somehow managed to download the maps and replays of the matches. Strangely, there were all separate maps for each week of the season. He started to doubt even more than before.
Therefore, he asked a programmer to crack the protection of the map and was very surprised that all the Orc units received 'hidden' buffs and Night Elf units were all nerfed slightly.
DayFly had played countless matches in Prime League and he knew very well about the structure inside of Prime League staffs. He immediately suspected that Jae-Young Jang had modified the map for a reason. Jang also had very much authority over the league, so he had enough power to control the league as he wanted. DayFly firmly believed that revealing the truth in the Prime League would not worsen the situation, but improve it in general.
Later he talks about his own opinion about the future of Warcraft and mentions about possibility of returning to the Prime League.
Summary of Jae-Young Jang's Statement
Jae-Young apologized in mbcwarcraft.com and confirmed the crime he has done. He insists that he had done this purely to give more fun to the viewers and he was also under pressure, because of competition with the Ongamenet. He reveals that he had been modifying the map since the beginning of the Prime League as opposed to DayFly's belief that the map had been modified only recently.
In the PL1, he wanted to make DayFly win the tournament so it could create a 'boom' among the Warcraft fans. Then he stopped modifying. But when PL3 was started, he felt the pressure of race imbalance and decided to give advantages to races that were usually regarded as disadvantaged. After he talks about the DayFly's post, he talks about the harsh situations he had experienced and he wants the Prime League to be carried on without him. Then he restates that he really want to apologize to all the players and fans of Warcraft.
Summary of the MBC Statement
In the official statement of MBC games, MBC apologized for not noticing this unfairness going on within their league. And they decided to take following actions:
1. Jae-Young Jang will not be able to participate any TV programs of MBC Game Channel.
2. All leagues in MBC games will be organized without Jang.
3. Official apology to the all the progamers who had participated in Prime League.
4. Punishment of PD who were responsible for Warcraft 3 Prime League.
5. Looking for a solution to prevent another such incident with the esport organization.
